"Can I get you anything else, sir?""Maybe your number?" In his suit, his profession immediately meant nothing to me. He creepily slid his business card across the marble counter and I swear I wanted to gag at that moment. I barely held myself back so I wouldn't get fired for customer service issues.
I smiled at him respectfully (or at least, tried to do so),
"Sorry, my boss prohibits us from sharing personal information to customers."
It wasn't a lie.
He sighed in dejection with a smile and slipped his card back in the chest pocket of his suit.
"Suit yourself."
He then got up from his seat and proceeded to sit somewhere else. I could've cared less... I thought but couldn't stop staring at the woman with bangs whom he then approached after failing to get my number.
She reminded me of Cleopatra. Except she wasn't very royal-like the way she carried herself. Her head was hung low with her hand barely supporting it. She looked in distress and that feeling worsened when the guy came over.
As if she's used to the attention and dreads all of it.
"I'm taken, leave me alone..." She grumbled.
I slowly made my way to the other end of the counter, pretending to grab a few bottles of margarita there. As I reached for them, I heard something that made me freeze.
"...Her. I'm taken by her,"
Now I had no choice.
I turned around with my actress-face on and folded my palms in front of me, keeping a professional persona until the very end.
"O-Oh, hey... girlfriend."
I facepalmed as the way I called her was so awkward. Nobody would believe us.
"Her? Huh, are you just saying that so I'd leave you alone? Cause that won't work on me."
I mentally groaned. This forty-something guy needed to get back to work cause he certainly is causing me trouble in a shift that wasn't supposed to end this way.
"No. I am her girlfriend. That's the real reason I rejected you earlier."
"Why, for an employee who listens very well to her boss and lies to a customer's face, you're quite disrespectful. How about I report this to your boss, how does that sound miss?"
I stared at the girl I claimed as my girlfriend and our eyes locked. She looked very sober now after hearing that. That's not the only thing I noticed. Her eyes were very innocent-looking and her features, in general, seemed youthful. She definitely did not look like she's 20. The only thing that could confuse someone is the way she dressed and wore a generous amount of eye makeup.
She opened her mouth, but knowing that she has a conscience and would probably just sacrifice herself for me, I decided to stop her. I knew what I was about to say could get me fired, but looking at her...
Fuck it.
"You're right, I'm just an employee. So as an employee I should mind my own business right?"
"Yes, exactly. I'm glad you know your place—"
"But I'm not just an employee. I'm also her girlfriend and the minute I clock out I don't give a fuck about how I treat my customer. How about you meet Shin Ryujin, later instead, how does that sound?"
I enunciated my name as if my words would kill, and I succeeded. He swallowed the growing lump in his throat and stared at the girl with contempt.
"You're lucky this dyke over here saved you," He hissed before leaving.
