On The Moon

I sat up slowly, the distant blaring of the morning alarm forcing me out of the stone bed. I didn't bother to talk to anyone, as none of them spoke English. We walked out of our "bedroom", which looked more like a cell than anything.

While everyone lined up, I sidetracked and went to the activating wheel. Twisting it, the Gehin machines whirled to life. Everyone went to their station and began work for the day. I followed suit, but in truth there was only one thing on my mind.

Home.

At lunch, I sat with my "friends". They talked and talked, so I just ate quietly. One of them seemed to be glancing at me nervously, with an odd colored blush. Sighing, I excused myself and went off to my cell's bathroom.

Closing the door made of god knows what, I sat against the wall.

I missed my home. I missed the sun on a summer day. God did I hate winter, but even I missed the sparkling snow. I missed talking, to people that could understand what I said. I missed mom and dad, god did I miss them. I missed Earth, everything I used to have.

The alarm blared once again, and I was back to work. Back to nothing more than a doll. Back to the daily routine on this damned moon.

However, today I was called to the Meeting Room. 'Fuck.' Was all I could think. I panicked, but kept an aloof expression.

When I arrived, I was given a phone and a smile from the Hijhen. I hesitantly took it and let out a small 'hello?'. On the other end, a painfully familiar voice answered with a warm voice.

I sobbed. After years in this damned place, I couldn't have forgotten my mother's voice. She told me that my father would be there in a few days with some important news.

I didn't care. All I cared about was that they remembered me. They cared, they didn't leave me here. I wasn't going to be abandoned any longer. The Hijhen held me as the flood gates opened.

A few excruciating days later, I was sitting in the Hejhin's office. They were trying to get Siri to work for some reason, but it was amusing to watch.

Everything stopped when the door opened. A man I could barely recognize walked in and sat on the couch across from me. Apparently, I hadn't cried enough, as the flood gates exploded once again.

My father told me that they'd managed to score a deal. I could either stay there for the rest of eternity, or I'd go test fly planes on another planet for another year. Of course, I instantly agreed.

He left after an hour or two, hugging me tightly before he departed back to Earth.

No matter how scared of heights I am, I'm not letting some fear hold me back from going home.

This was entirely based off a dream I had. Very depressing dream, might I add.
