"If the world was ending, would you be there to hold me?" He asked.
I smiled, turning to stare at the love of every life of mine.
"Yea, I'd be there." I replied.
"Prove it!" He laughed.

An orange red covered the horizon, the sun just barely peeking out. Light streamed out, while the clouds seemed damn near invisible.
I couldn't dare look back, holding him so tightly in my arms. It was silent. In the city I had been born and raised in, all I knew was noise. It felt so weird, for there to be nothing.
No cars bustled for the morning commute. No people argued into their phones about business. No shadows were cast by the large buildings surrounding every road. No mixed streetlights, some off and some on.
It was serene, but I hated it.
Loading my usual shit into the car, I slammed the door shut as I sat in the drivers' seat. I debated not even going to work, just calling in sick and staying home to cry.
I'd had a fight a few days back with En. Who knows and who cares what it was about. We'd both said some shit that hurt the other, now we're 'calming down'.
'Fuck relationships' I thought, as I stepped gently on the gas and began my drive to work.
Before I could get far, a huge explosion stopped everything around me. A building at the end of the street went up in flames. Screaming and wailing filled my ears, and I could smell the smoke from here.
I slammed on the gas and floored it to the beach a mile away. I could hear buildings drop like flies behind me, so I made a point to take less populated roads. I arrived and jumped out, seeing my love sitting on the sand as he always does in the morning.
I ran. I ran to him and leapt, landing on En. We both crashed to the ground, and he began shouting about who it was. He quieted down as the explosions neared us, and he whipped around and fisted my shirt.
"I told you I'd be there if the world was ending, does this count as proof?" I chuckled, tightening my hold.
He nodded. I smiled, even as destruction rang out behind me. I had my first and last love in my arms, it was all that mattered. I placed my noise canceling headphones on his ears, and put my music on full volume.
"I love you." En mumbled, his eyes drifting shut.
"I love you too, babe."
