REUNITING HEARTS: Prologue

LUCY HEARTFILIA

Chandeliers glittering above us, music playing in the background, chatters and laughs mixing in the bubbly atmosphere. It's supposed to be one of those rare nights when I should enjoy myself. Well, that was actually my plan. To forget all my problems, all the aches that have been living in my chest for years... Even for a night, I wanted to throw it away.

But it never crossed my mind that it would only get intensified. I'd never thought that tonight, I'd lose myself. Again...

"Let's party!" Everyone cheered as they made a toast. The corner of my lips stretched for a grin as giggles escaped them, sparkling eyes were watching my friends in disbelief. They're acting like freaking teenagers.

But it's better, I think. Seeing them again like this was fun!

When I was younger, I always wished to grow up so fast, so I could do the things that my parents forbid me to. Travelling to places, going out with friends, making decisions on my own, and everything.

But now, being an adult, I was wishing to just go back to the past and never get old. I just wanted to be young again. Free from problems, free from heavy responsibilities, free from pain. Back then, my only problem was to solve math equations. It's a real pain in the ass.

I shook my head at myself, smirking inwardly at my weird thoughts.

"Yo, Lucy! Drink more!" Cana threw her arm over my shoulders as she refilled my glass of wine, and then walked away like nothing happened. Tch, Cana will always be Cana.

It's our reunion and I'm really glad that we got this chance to be reunited again and have fun after five years. We rarely see each other now and hardly get together since we have a lot of responsibilities to fulfill.

Some of them are now happily married and living with their family, like Levy and Gajeel, who already have a daughter. While Juvia and Gray will be married two months from now. I'm happy for them.

And as for me, I'm currently running the Heartfilia Corp. since I'm the only daughter and no one will inherit our business and properties but me.

"Lucy..."

I looked at Erza. She sat down next to me and offered me a toast. She's wearing an elegant yet seductive black dress, fitting her curves well while her long scarlet hair was curled at the end. We're in one of the five star hotels that her family owned.

"How have you been?" she asked. I smiled and watched Cana challenge Elfman in a drinking contest on the next table. I shook my head.

"Fine... I guess?" I looked back at her and smirked. She raised an eyebrow, eyes were screaming that she's not taking any of my crap. Shaking my head, I avoided her sharp gazes and drank on my wine. "You know, I've thought that running a corporation would be this hard and stressful."

I've always had a very tight schedule, needed to attend endless meetings and evaluate energy-draining business proposals. I didn't have time to pamper myself. I even believed that I was growing white hairs earlier than normal for all the stress I've been going through. Tss.

"He will come."

My eyebrows furrowed, acting like I didn't know what she's talking about when in fact, I was slowly panicking inside. What the hell?! "Who?"
