Tabbi's POV
Beware: this chapter has a flashback scene that may bring you to tears with it's cuteness.
Also yes I'm giving Smoke like all the love in this, God knows he needs some of it 🤧🤧

The walk back to the temple was a really hard one. We could tell when we started getting close, because it started getting really cold, and winter-like. It was always winter at the temple.

When we did get there, however, it looked like a bomb went off. Members of the clan were all over the ground, dried blood on the bodies, on the ground, everywhere. There had been a massacre here, no doubt about it.

"Oh my..." I trailed off.

Kuai didn't seemed very phased by all the blood and gore very much, but that being said, if he was grossed out, he kept it to himself. Like always. My eyes darted around the area. There was no one left alive. They were all dead.

I closed my eyes and let out a deep sigh before opening them. I turned around to face Kuai. "Maybe we should rethink starting over here,"

"Lin Kuei do not give up." Kuai crossed his arms. "We need to show those we lost that we can make this place good again."

"I know...but...look at them," I said, gesturing around to all of the dead bodies lying around.

Kuai placed his hand on my shoulder. "I know it's hard,"

"Then you also know I don't have the heart to do this," I stepped away from him and crossed my arms. "I can't...I can't pretend like all these guys weren't my friends. I can't just move their bodies away and forget about them. I'm not like you, Kuai Liang. I can't just..."

"What do you mean by that?" Kuai questioned. "Do you honestly think that seeing my former clan members like this isn't...doesn't hurt me? In any way? I may not show that I don't care, but it does not mean I don't,"

I opened my mouth to respond, but Kuai cut me off.

"I guess I'm better at hiding it than you are," He finished, crossing his arms. "I will...deal with the bodies. I need you to go through the rooms inside, and find whatever resources we can use,"

I nodded, and walked off, leaving Kuai with the dead bodies. I opened the first room on the left side of the temple. It was Bi-Han's old room.

I'd only been inside his a few times, and when I did go in, it was only to ask him where Smoke or Kuai were, since he always knew. There hadn't really been much of use in his room, though. Just a few spare knives, and water bottles. Nothing we could use.

Liquids were kind of a hard thing to keep around the temple. Newer cryomancers would instantly freeze them, sometimes even the ones who'd mastered cryomancy would freeze them. It's just something that happens when you develop your skill.

As soon as I picked up the water, it froze. "Damnit," I cursed, throwing the bottle on the floor. It burst into a million pieces. I rolled my eyes.

I looked in a few other places, seeing if there was anything Bi-Han hid anywhere that'd be useful. But no, there was nothing Kuai and I could've used. So I moved onto the next room, which was Cyrax's room.

His room was a lot different than Bi-Han's. Cyrax had posters up on his walls, and he even had a stereo, there was a lot of stuff in there that most others in the clan hadn't had. He brought most of that stuff with him when he offered to join the clan.
