Just wait

I quickly sped off behind them so I wouldn't lose them again. "Matt what are you doing you can't do anything to help right now you just learned his name!" Lucy yelled while gripping the door. I blinked my eyes a few times and slowed down knowing she was right. I kept sight of the truck which was now two cars in front of me. "I don't know," I exclaimed "I just don't know." I mumbled to myself. We got to the street where they had turned last time. I debated to follow them or to continue driving forward.

"If I go forward we go to my house and discuss what I should do, if I turn we run the son of a bitch over." I said out loud more for myself than for anyone else. "Then let's go plan don't make any rash decisions so you don't scare the guy." Lucy said. I nodded knowing she was right. So we started the drive over the expressway. Hoping I could see him tomorrow.

Luka's POV

(Trigger warning ⚠️ mentions drinking and abuse)

He had the kindest blue eyes. That's all I could think about as my dad landed another blow to my stomach. I thought about was his laugh and how it sounded full of love and happiness and how he smelled like a campfire. I closed my eyes and curled up on the seat praying today would just end.

About halfway home my father stopped yelling and hitting. He took up more drinking instead. "I saw you in there laughing," my father slurred, "he noticed the bruise under your eye, what did you tell him?" I sighed but knew if I didn't answer I would receive a slap to the face and probably a kick to the stomach. "I said I slipped at the end of work when I was doing the dishes, he told me to be more careful." I saw him nod out of the corner of my eye. "I didn't mean it you know. I was just mad." He slurred at me, while taking another swig from his flask. I nodded my head and gave him a yes sir, but deep down I knew he meant it and I couldn't help but let a few stray tears fall down my cheek.

Once we pulled into the driveway I immediately ran from the car to my room, shutting and locking my door. The only place that was safe from him. I hung my apron up, put my hat on my desk, grabbed my favorite pajamas and went into my bathroom. It was days like today where I was glad I had a bathroom in my room.

'Time to inspect the damage.' I thought to myself. I noticed immediately that my left eye was already turning black, I had a fat lip with a cut in the middle and I could see two ring sized bruises forming. I sighed knowing it was going to get worse. As I took off my shirt I winced in pain and as soon as I saw my body my eyes filled up with tears and I couldn't hold back the sob that escaped my mouth. Quickly turning the water on so he wouldn't hear me crying. In the mirror the whole left side of my torso was a giant purple aching bruise. I quickly discarded the rest of my clothes and climbed into the shower, I couldn't bare to look at the marks he has left scattered around my body.

Once I was done I slid on the softest pajamas in the world and quickly dug my special blanket from my backpack that I hung up and I climbed into bed. I couldn't help how quickly sleep took over and for once it wasn't a nightmare it was about those comforting blue eyes.

Matthew's POV

Once we got back to my house Lucy made her way to the kitchen, but I took a left and went to my office. I needed to find a way to stop his dad. He couldn't stay there any longer because the abuse was just going to get worse and worse and Luka is small already so there is no way he can take much more. I stood up from my desk and began pacing, I knew I needed to calm down

I smiled as Lucy came in with two sandwiches and some waters. "Why don't you go back tomorrow, we both need a day off! Plus it'll be Saturday! We will go and ask to sit at the bar, you can talk to him get to know him and who knows maybe he has a phone and you can get his phone number. You can talk to him find out how bad it is and then maybe it would be easier to get him into a better situation." She spoke while eating her sandwich. I nodded at her while picking apart my sandwich.

It was in that very moment that I realized I hadn't thought about my ex since yesterday. Luka was the only thing running through my mind. And I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I felt my shoulders relax. All I could think about was how kind and innocent his eyes looked. "That is a much better plan than fighting his dad because that would probably scare him." This is why Lucy is my best friend, she always pays attention to detail. And with my final thoughts being of Luka I turned off the movie threw a blanket over Lucy and climbed into bed.
