I awoke to a knock at the door, Fen was sat at the desk to the left of me, in the clothes she wore last night. I stand up, Fen looks worried because of the knock.

"Yes, who is there?" I ask the other side of the door.

"It's only me." The voice says, a familiarity of Isabel's elegant words. I open the door and she walks in with one other man. Only you, huh isabel? I am annoyed at the lie. The man sets down Fen's sack of luggage. I guess I was right in thinking I could only rely on her for one night.

"I hope this isn't rude, I had a couple of my guys track you down so I could return this. I thought you had left the city, I'm pleased you hadn't." She smiles, she is a pretty sight and this makes me relax a little.

"I appreciate it." Fen says, standing up and smiling, she is even more beautiful today than she ever has been. She's a mess and clearly wants a wash, but she is radiant. Isabel catches me staring too long and clears her throat.

"So, from what Fen told me about your situation when you slept yesterday I should think you two shouldn't want to stick around here much longer. If the sheriff is after you, that's dangerous for me for harboring you. I hope you understand." She speaks so plainly but so kindly, I smile and nod.

"Of course, I appreciate your hospitality, I'm sorry our time is so brief, it's been too long since we've had a proper visit." I put my arms in her's and kiss her cheeks. She holds me there for a moment, parting is such sweet sorrow.

"I've arranged a carriage to take you. There's a station the next town over that can take you further. May I speak to you in private Godric?" She asks, staring slightly towards Fen as if simultaneously asking her for permission. I nod and the man and Isabel lead me out of the room into the lobby, it is unattended. The man walks out of the building entirely.

Isabel takes a seat on a dingey chair, crossing one leg over the other. "What are you gettitng yourself into, Godric? This slave? Pissing of the fucking sheriff and king? Where is Eric?" I sigh and sit next to her, a chair keeping a gap between us. She softens and turns to me. "Him too, huh? Was it because of her?"

I shake my head slowly, "No. He was planning long before her. She was unplanned. I don't know." I've never been so lost for words, I'm so exhausted of all of this. "I was drawn to her. I am drawn to her, everything in me is telling me to stop. I know it won't be worth it, but she is breaking me down into someone I've never had the chance to be. It has only been a few days but I am changing and I like the way I'm changing. I feel like I can let go of feeling like a vampire, of seeing the humans as a them. I certainly have never thought of her as a them and that's not me. You know me." I run my hand through my hair and turn to face forward.

"Is this worth it?" Isabel asks. "Is she?"

"To me, yes." I answer, standing. She stands with me.

"That's all I needed to hear, I'll try to help as best I can. I'll hide your secrets. Be careful, Godric. Please." Isabel stares into my eyes sorrowfully, she has fallen for humans before, she is probably the only one right know who could even begin to understand me. I thought I was too old for this, but she doesn't, she still respects me. Even with how pathetic I'm being. I nod, she breaks my gaze and heads out the door.

I return to Fen, we gather our few belongings and leave the building, the streets are quieter tonight. No doubt on account of those children last night. A carriage is stood across the street, the man who accompanied Isabel standing outside of it. No doubt our driver.
