A Heist

Conan was not ready to face this type of reality. Knowing that KID was alive was one thing, not knowing if this reality's KID was the same as his own back home was another.

And it was no guarantee he'd end up having a flashback of that moment during the heist, or he'd end up breaking down over the fact that the thief was the same person behind the monocle and was actually alive and running.
Conan does not want to think of the possibility it was not the same person. So heck no, he was not wasting a good opportunity to be back in a Kaitou KID heist.

It didn't even take him a second before he solved the heist note, and he wanted to go. So when he heard "Tadaiama!" From the front door, he sprinted to that direction and purposefully clung to Shinichi, making the teen loose balance and bumped his back on the door behind him.

"Whoa kiddo!" he exclaimed as he held said child.

Conan shoved the heist note to his face, "KAITOU KID SENT A HEIST NOTE." He took away the card only to squish Shinichi's face with both hands, "I SOLVED IT ALREADY AND I WANT TO GO." He all but screeched excitedly, "Why didn't you tell me he sends you personal heist notes? Why would he send you one in the first place?"

He vaguely remembered Shinichi telling him he knew the guy behind the mask, but is it the same person as his?

He was also totally a child right now so, "Can we buy KID merch?" Come to think of it, wasn't Sonoko a die hard KID fan?

Conan's eyes gleamed at the thought, "You're friends with Suzuki Sonoko right?"

"W'll yesh, but--"

"Maybe you'll let me buy some limited edition stuff through her cuz she can get a discount?" Conan never felt so excited in this alternate life than ever before, "I want a stuffed toy and I promise not to antagonize Mr. Cuddles anymore. Can you buy me one, niichan?"

He had a love hate relationship with the brown bear plush right now and he wasn't sure why. But he'd gladly settle that dispute and be a good kid if he could buy the merch he couldn't buy when he was still the prideful Kudo Shinichi of his universe... he internally screamed at himself not to think like that again and to stick to Shinichi for the rest of the day to make sure the teen won't die on his stupid mistake.

Shinichi's eyebrow twitched, "C'nan." Conan could hear Agasa-hakase chuckling in the background.

He gave the teen his sweetest tooth-rotting puppy eyes, his hands still not relaxing from squishing Shinichi's face, "Pleeaaaase?" He dragged the word using his most annoying childish tone of voice.

He can adapt to acting like his mother when he wants something, thank you very much. The tell tale click of a camera from behind Conan made Shinichi snap up and glare at a snickering Agasa-hakase. It wasn't until a second later that Shinichi sighed in defeat and looked at the child in his arms.

"Awright." He managed to say with his squished face, "But only one it'm."

Conan didn't let go of Shinichi's face and instead squished harder. "No."

Conan pouted. Stupid, prideful Shinichi-niichan. He was probably still rivals with the thief in this universe.

"But we'll att'nd da heist."

The child grinned. Conan could work with that. He lets go of Shinichi's face, hugged the teen by the neck and he cheered.

"So what did you get from solving the heist note anyways?" Shinichi asked as he brought them both to the couch while Agasa-hakase excused himself to go check if the food arrived.

"I figured he'd be in Ekoda around nine pm today. The jewel is in a museum though I'm not sure which one yet because it's always being relocated every week." He totally knew which one, "But I'm not too worried because I know you know where he'll be because he sent you a personal note."

Shinichi looked amused, "Not because I'm a detective?"

"Totally not because you're a detective." Mr. Cuddles didn't need anymore ammunition to tease him on relying on his guardian too much.

Shinichi only hummed. That was when Agasa-hakase came back with the take-out noodles and they all ate.

"Why did he send the note to you on the day of, anyways?" Conan asked as he took his empty noodle carton to the trash.

"That's how he plays." Was the only reply he received from the teen, "Ready to go?"Conan was about to say yes before he remembered he was a bit defenseless without his gadgets. So he mustered up the most innocent look at his current guardian.

Shinichi noticed this and raised his eyebrow, "What do you want?"

Conan grinned, "My gadgets?" He said in his syrupy-sweet voice. He hated using it, but he couldn't deny how effective it is on certain situation.

Shinichi seemed to realize the purpose of why he wants his gadgets and frowned.

"You're not running." He said sternly.

Conan smirked, "You can't stop me." Conan could find a million other ways to chase and trap the thief, though he'd feel better to have some familiarity over the situation.

Luckily for him, Agasa-hakase made that decision for Shinichi. He brought out the soccer ball inflating belt and his classic red power up shoes, all fixed up, reasoning that it would be better for Conan to have some type of defense if they ever separate from the large crowed. He also gave them a prototype of the Detective Boys badge to test if the communication works in the field.

"Sheesh hakase, if I didn't know any better I'd think we're just lab rats to you." Shinichi complained as he watched his young charge put on the gadgets. The man only laughed and told them to get going.

With it being a school day and all, Conan wanted to take a nap on the way to get some energy before the heist. So when they took the train, he did just that. He did wake up slightly when he felt Shinichi talking. His head was resting on the teen's left side and he felt an arm around his shoulders.

"I wouldn't have!" He heard Shinichi's hushed voice and went silent when Conan shifted a bit, "But Ran, he looked so excited. He was never like that... I couldn't say no." He felt fingers card through his hair.

"If you've seen him you would've said yes too." Shinichi said softly.Conan drifted back to sleep.
