Conan really should’ve known better. He didn’t really have an excuse as to why he was shocked when they came across a dying Miyano Akemi. Conan and Shinichi were walking down the alleyway they thought was a short cut to the new bakery that opened just a few days prior, when they heard a gunshot. Shinichi reached the scene faster. Conan heard Shinichi contacting the police as he continued to rush towards the woman and kneeled down beside her on the ground.
“Miyano-san...” Conan called when he got to her, his hands hovering above her, not knowing what to do. He settled with pressing the gunshot wound to lessen the blood flow.
She turned to look at him and smiled at him.
“Hello there...” She rasped, “...take care of her, miracle boy.” She coughed up blood.
Conan got confused at the nickname, but her cough distracted him and his panic increased, “Please hold on a little longer.” He pleaded, “Your sister needs you the most. I can’t...”
She shook her head, “...we’ve tried so hard,” she sobbed, “from every--” She cut off as she coughed again.
Suddenly, Conan understood.
“...I was bound to die in every single one of them.” Miyano gasped, eyelids slowly blinking, “I’m a messenger...” She huffed, “... I can’t settle yet until I get them to all of you.”
“No, please...”
She shakily grabbed his hands and squeezed them from where he was stopping her blood. She looked at him in the eyes, “Mother answers everything, but father lays down the rules.” She wheeze out.
“Please, just tell me when we get you to the hospital.” He pressed.
Lifting her right hand to his cheek, “Brothers and sisters will meet once more, to defeat the crows the jewel scorned.” She finished though she sobbed in pain after talking, and Conan felt so helpless. He barely noticed the sirens, or the blue and red lights flashing in the background.
“...I’m sorry.” Was all Conan could say. He was so sorry that they’d have to part way like this. To know that she had to go through this pain.
To die every time.
She smiled sadly at him, the understanding evident in her eyes. Her tears dripped down below her right temple, and she exhaled. Her hand dropped from his face while the other slacked from its grip. Conan just stared at her, eyes wide. His hands also slacked from it’s position on her stomach, and he slumped from his seat.
After being given the chance to live another life, he still couldn’t save all of them.
Someone moved somewhere. Someone lifted him up. Someone took him away from the body, talking to him. Someone wipe the blood off his hands and face, and a blanket covered his whole body.
He couldn’t bring himself to care.
All he could think of was the message given to him. He was Hypnotized by Miyano Akemi’s parting words. Conan knew he should probably stop being useless and start planning on how to stop the Black Org.
He couldn’t.
“... you think... related?”
“Who cares?!... traumatized...”
What does she mean by all of that, anyways? was it a prophecy of some sort? or was it as complex as Kaitou KID’s heist notes?
“... It’s dangerous... look into it anyways...”
“...hope...wake up...”
Brothers and sisters? Does she mean it in a literal sense, or just a bunch of allies that’s somehow connected to him by being involved with the Black Org?
