They arrived in Ekoda an hour before the heist would start. They would've detoured to a fast food restaurant first if it weren't for the fact that Conan knew how much their luck sucks and how they'd most likely run into a murder case. Conan was going to enjoy this day because Kaitou KID Heists were for Kaitou KID only.

Conan was not about to ruin this day by running into a murder. So Conan convinced his guardian that he was still full from the take out they had before leaving.

He pulled his guardian up until the end of a crowded streets full of KID fans, then turned around to look up at Shinichi and raised his arms.

"Up." He demanded.

Shinichi complied, lifted him up and placed him on his shoulders before walking in the crowd towards where the main event would happen. Conan held onto Shinichi's hair as he looked around.

He briefly wondered if Sonoko was nearby. He wanted to get a plush as soon as possible.

It was a hassle going through security to get inside the building. Though it would seem like Kudo Shinichi took the title of being the one close enough to catch kid, so they weren't too strict on them. They got to the main area and they could see them counting the number of task forces as well as checking for traps. Thankfully, Nakamori-keibu was too busy to notice both of them.

"Conan." Shinichi called from below him and Conan only hummed in reply, "We're staying in the sidelines."

Conan looked down, "What?" He squeaked, "But, but--"

Shinichi only shook his head, "I've got a bad feeling that if we chase him tonight everything would be in ruins." He squeezed Conan's legs, "I promise we'll play in the next heist."

Conan was quiet for a moment. Kudo intuitions were never to be underestimated, just like how Hattori intuitions were to be taken seriously. It saved many lives, especially his, though Conan couldn't help but be worried.

"Would the thief be okay?" He asked.

Shinichi patted Conan's left leg, "He'll be fine as long as we don't interfere." He nodded to a certain person's direction, "That guy will take care of it."

When Conan looked at the direction Shinichi nodded to, he frowned. Hakuba Saguru was okay in Conan's book, but he couldn't help but be irritated with the guy whenever they were talking back in his universe. The guy technically insulted his best friend and as much as it was amusing to see Hattori Heiji irritated with the guy, no one messes with his precious people.

"Are you sure? He looks like a prick." He couldn't help it, he forgot Hakuba used to wear the Sherlock Holmes costume during this time...and was much more arrogant, apparently. They listened to Hakuba rattle off to the task force.

Shinichi didn't bother to reply.

Conan thought the guy was good at being a detective during their stay in the Mystery Mansion especially since he saw it in his second time there (one that Shinichi had reluctantly skipped because he was needed elsewhere, though he gave Conan permission to go as long as he stayed with the Osakan detective and otchan), but to insult the whole Kaitou KID task force in the middle of preparations was downright not okay with Conan. But Conan can deal with it if it means the guy would save the thief.

"Can we stay a little longer then?" He asked as they heard the count down from outside.

"Sure." Was all he got before the count down stroked one. The lights shut off.

"Ladies and gentlemen." They heard KID say before the lights came back on. KID was beside the case of the jewel. To Conan's frustration, the top hat was covering most of the thief's face.

"Welcome." The thief slightly tilted his head up to fully show his grin.

"GET HIM!" Nakamori-keibu screamed. Everyone in the task force ran towards the thief. Conan felt Shinichi moved forward but stopped himself from running. Conan wanted to tell him to just run, but he knew they couldn't. So Conan just anxiously waited for the heist to end. Though Shinichi was kind enough to go outside to see if KID went to the rooftop.

There were a series of colored smoke on some windows as well as random confetti exploding where the crowd can see. When the signature white hand glider took off, Shinichi went to the opposite direction as quickly as he can while having Conan on his shoulders. They didn't see any departing thief. Conan's grip on Shinichi's head turned into a tight hug. Weren't the earlier days of his KID's reign a little clumsy? what about now?

"We'll wait." Shinichi informed him.

There was a flash of red on a rooftop opposite of the heist building. "Shin-niichan..." He started, but Shinichi only stood silently.

There were a few more flashes of red and white. Remnants of confetti from up there fluttered down in the alley they were in. A bright yellow light flashed a lot brighter than the others before it. Then they saw a flutter of white fabric dropping down and formed a triangle shape, flying away from the building.

They stood there for a moment before both he and Shinichi let out a breath they didn't know they were holding.

"Well," the teen spoke up as Conan felt Shinichi's head twist to look up, and he looked down, "Should we go home?"

Conan shook his head, "We didn't get to play. Can we at least see the chaos?"

Shinichi grinned, "Sounds good to me."

When they got inside, all Conan could see was a bunch of dyes throughout the area as well as some colorful streamers. A mist of colored and gray smoke bombs were still lingering in the room.

He asked to be put down before running to the nearest staircase with Shinichi in tow. They spent the rest of the night looking for traps and disassembling the ones that weren't tripped, claiming to help clean up so that they could stay longer.

If a large trap created from all the disassembled stuff was set off the following day, they'd just blame it on KID.

Shinichi made it a game for Conan to exercise his detective skills and even though Conan didn't need to, he still played along.

Gotta make new experience for Conan, after all.

He did find interacting with Shinichi interesting especially now that they're talking as what KID would refer to them, his critics, and also felt he always had fun whenever he was with the teen. The day concluded with a content Conan sleeping on the way home.

A week later, he found a large (and soft!) Kaitou KID plush on his bed when he came home from school. He figured he'd keep his promise on not antagonizing Mr. Cuddles for this.
