Heart wrecked

Age 17

As I lay awake in the white moonlight
I heard a faint singing in the wood
Out of bed,
Sleepyhead.
Put your slippers on,
Here we are, 'neath the tree
Just like old times
Singing round the root now
In each others arms
Come away
Let's run away
We'll make a home
Things will be different now
Honey sweet
Curds to eat
Green and round
Shells and beady
Poppy seeds, you shall have plenty
Let's make love in the moonlight
It'll be our forever
How sweet!
But as soon as I stepped in the dim moonlight
To put my slippers on
The sweet sweet singing died sadly away
And the light of the morning peeped through!
Then instead of him, came a red robin on the window
To sing the morning tune
Heart Wrecked!
T'was all a dream!
