Canon universe, Post SVS————
Deceit gritted him teeth. Once again the prince had completely missed his innuendo. What's not to get?!Roman's complete idiocy would be laughable if Deceit wasn't desperate for his attention. Well, his romantic attention. What would he have to say?!
"Look. Roman. I'm trying to flirt with you here."
The idiot would probably just pull a dumb face and continue to ignore his advances.
He'd tried countless times before.
"Will the honourable judge Roman read off the charges please?" he'd said, batting his eyelashes.
"Oh you know I love you." He'd said with a wink.
"It's, Your Honour, to you." He's said. Trying to force a flirtatious smirk.
But the stupid prince just didn't catch on. Nothing was working. So he sulked. He sulked in the commons and when Roman would pass by he'd throw another compliment. "Looking fabulous, Roman, as always of course."
Roman would just smile awkwardly and stutter a tad, "erm, back atcha?"
Or the movie nights when Deceit would trail back to his room and drawl a casual "Care to join me, creativity?"
Roman never answered, although sometimes a choked noise could be heard.
Deceit would run a gloved hand over his shoulder and say softly, "red really is your colour, dear." And the side would simply smile.
What was he trying to do?! If he kept it up much longer deceit would simply go insane. He couldn't be much blunter.
The other sides pitied him. They caught on long ago but no one wanted to be the one to tell Roman.
———-
So Deceit took Roman out, not in the murderous way of course. That would only be for if he was rejected. He took him to the theatre of the mind palace to act, knowing it was the creative sides favourite activity. Well, joint place with singing Disney and dancing.
So the sides shifted, summoning the proper attire to sing 'a whole new world' properly, no matter how foolish they looked. They made Thomas play the music as they sang the duet. They had watched Aladdin so many times that they had shamelessly performed the choreography and were having a rather good time.
Deceit brushed a hand over Romans face. Roman leaned in. Was this it? The moment he had been waiting for? Holy shit holy shit holy shit. Roman smiled sweetly.
"Aaand SCENE!" Roman called loudly, startling Deceit who had his eyes half lidded.
"and scene..." Deceit grumbled as he turned around.
————
The next plot to catch Romans heart or die trying was a spectacular daring non-date. Although they were only having a picnic, Deceit imagined that the day would end with Roman swooning and he'd would twirl him around, they'd profess their undying love for each other under the stars. Or something along those lines, it's not like he had fantasised the moment nightly since he'd laid eyes on the prince. Not. At. All.
Roman lay out a plaid blanket, red and yellow, how fitting, and gestured for the 'reptilian reptilian' to sit down. Deceit patted the ground beside him, gesturing for roman to lay beside him.
The sky in the imagination was quickly fading from orange to pink, in real time it was only mid-day but there was something so pleasant about a picnic at sunset. Deceit popped open a bottle of white wine and Roman scrunched his nose, summoning himself a Capri-sun.
"The sky looks gorgeous." Roman sighed and sipped his drink through a noisy straw.
"As do you, dear." Janus said.
Roman blushed a shade similar to the rouge sky, tucking a lock of hair behind his ear.
Deceit took a deep inhale. Fine wine, cologne, small dishes of hot food and the smell of... rain... that was odd,, the weather was dry and-
A drop of rain hit deceits scales. And another. And another. Instead of losing his temper, Deceit took a deep breath in. "Roman, dear, can you make that stop?"
No reply.
"Roman?"
He looked round to see Roman fuming and followed his gaze to a grinning Remus Sanders. Remus began to cackle as Roman unsheathed his sword and charged down the hill they were atop. Creativity business. Janus tipped back his glass of wine and began packing away his basket.
————
"No. This is wrong. It's best for Thomas if we stick to the original plan." Roman argued.
"I'm sorry roman but you've been outnumbered. Everyone agrees it's more beneficial for Thomas to choose the new plan." Logan countered.
"Everyone..." Roman looked sadly to the ground. "I guess I'm not needed. I'll be off."
"Not so fast." A sharp voice remarked. "You're not leaving yet because I've had enough."
Roman stood up straight and looked towards deceit, who was now standing next to Logan. Virgil hissed and was quickly shut up.
"Roman, are you sure you don't need glasses? Because you're as blind at these two nitwits." Deceit gestured to Logan and Patton. "You're blind if you can't see your own self worth and you're blind if you can't see the fact that we- that I love you."
Roman looked towards deceit for a moment,, before he was seemingly struck by a realisation. "are you flirting with me?!"
Each side groaned. It was truly painful.
"You finally noticed." Janus rolled his eyes.
