Padding out into the living area this morning proved to be so much different than any other morning. Besides the dull ache in my hips, I felt a sense of weightlessness as if gravity had lifted and I simply floated through the doorway, a small smile spread onto my lips, the faint lingering memory of the weight of his body on top of mine, the way he breathed "I love you" into my hair, and the smell of something cooking filling my nostrils.
"Ya ya, I'll tell her... Of course I won't I'm not a fucking idiot!" My smile widened and I stifled a giggle looking at the bare back of my angry Pomeranian talking on the phone, wildly waving a spatula around. As quietly as I could I snuck up behind him wrapping my arms around his torso, feeling his muscular form tense from the sudden contact then melt into the touch, he looked under his arm at me with a smirk before letting out a snarl into the phone, "Ma, I gotta go... For the millionth fucking time YES!" stretching up onto my tiptoes I speak over his shoulder into the phone, "Love you Mom-suki!" "Gah! Woman!" I could hear the full on cackling on the other end as Kat angrily ended the call and proceeded to chase me around the apartment, both of us laughing and screaming with each close call and taunted insult.
He finally caught up to me as I tried to cut past the couch by vaulting himself over the coffee table, tackling me into the bundle of tweed cushions. I fought to catch my breath through the giant smile that spread across my face while Kat did the same, resting his head on my chest letting his face rise and fall with each intake of oxygen, "So... what was your mom talking about?" I ask after we settled into a new breathing rhythm, my hands gently snaking through Kat's ash blond tufts of hair. "She wouldn't shut up about having dinner for your birthday next week." "mhmm, I'm sure she did, she asks just about every time you talk with her." "tch, ya and it's fucking annoying!" I let out a chuckle and continue running my fingers through his soft blond hair while mummering in his ear, "...did you talk about anything else?" "I can't tell you." he said starkly, "What?! why not?!" Kat lifted his beautiful face and pulled the corner of his lip up, "Cause it'll ruin the surprise dummy." I dramatically gasp, smiling at him before he reached up and gently planted a warm kiss on my lips.
We fell into each other; a world of warm embraces, fluttered eyelids, hot breath, and needy wandering hands. A magical place I never want to leave. But the actual world around us had other plans as the stereotypical ringtone sang out once again, causing our blissful daydream to come to a rest stop and causing the well toned and promptly agitated blond above me to groan into the crook of my neck, his body weight heavy on mine. "Are you gonna get that?" I sang to him as I ran my fingertips along his spine, "fucking thinking about it..." he grumbled which made me giggle, "Well how about we both get up, you can pick up that phone call and I'll grab some of whatever you were cooking earlier." His head popped up, his body tensing, eyebrows stitched together, "Oh shit I forgot! My eggs are gonna be burnt as fuck!" My laughter filled the air as Kat leapt up from the couch and ran into the kitchenette, spouting a slew of curses as he starting his rescue mission of our breakfast while redialing the number that called, promptly yelling a different thread of insults into the phone who I figured was probably Kirishima.
Drifting into the kitchen I tuck some of my chestnut hair behind my ear while I pour our over brewed french press into two mismatched mugs, tilting my head to look over at the man besides me. he had the phone pinned between his ear and shoulder, aggressively rolling his eyes as he plated some slightly burnt eggs and cold toast onto plates, "That sounds like a fucking waste of time but I'll ask her hold on...." he looked at me, pulling the phone down, "Do you want to go to a shitty party tonight with shitty hair and the rest of those fucking extras?" I giggled at how bored he looked asking me that, "Actually that sounds kind of fun! It's been a little while since we've hung out with all of them and I'm sure they're missing you too, especially now that the semester is over." I tried to smile sweetly at him but he simply rolled his eyes and tucked the phone back under his ear following me with our breakfast to the island, "Cheeks said sure so we'll be there but as soon as it gets lame we are fucking leaving!" I imagine Kirishima is fist pumping the air right now exclaiming at how awesome it was going to be tonight which earns me another signature Bakugou eye roll. Seriously, it's a gotta be genetic.
Katsuki ended the call and we chatted details over a homey breakfast. As I slid our dishes into the sink I heard Kat's phone ding with a text message, "Boy you're popular this morning!" I say somewhat loudly over the running water as I rinse off some crumbs. I didn't hear a response which means something is off in Bakugou language so I turn to see him just staring at his phone, his jaw set tight, his eyes widened slightly, lost for words. "Babe?" He lifts his eyes to mine, hesitation on his lips, "What's wrong?" Finally he comes back to reality and grips the plastic case around his phone hard then slams it on the laminate surface in front of him aggressively letting out an extremely agitated growl. "What?" Again he ignores me and stands from the table instead, walking to the front window and pulling the curtain aside slightly looking out onto the street below.
"Katuski!" "What!" My silence to his sharp tone made him finally turn to me, his crimson eyes blazing with rage, his breath heavy, calculated. "Are you gonna tell me wha-" "That bitch took my bike!" "oh..." I slowly stepped around him and looked down to the empty sidewalk below, the place where Kat normally parked was now vacant, snow had just started to fall. Looking back Kat was already putting on the remainder of his clothing and slipping on his boots.
"Where are you going?" Kat huffed as he wrapped his scarf around his neck, "To the impound to get my goddamn bike back, then I'm gonna give that bitch a piece of my mind" As I padded up to him, I let my hand linger on his forearm which signaled to blond to look down at me. "Kat, what's going on?" his red eyes closed as he sighed, "I'll explain later, look, I'll see you at Kiri's party tonight and I'll tell you after ok?" "But-" "Ocha! Just... Gah, please... I'll tell you everything, I mean it. But I can't do it right now... everything is gonna be fine, I just have to take care of a couple of things." he stared at the front window the entire time he spoke, trying so hard to keep it together while trying to console my worried expression. My eyes trailed down from his tense jaw down to his clenched fists, quietly giving him permission to go, "ok" He looked at me again, his face softening slightly, pulling me close as he kissed my forehead softly, "I love you Ochako, I'll see you tonight." I simply nod while he zipped his black leather jacket up and left through my door.
As I pull in on myself, the brims of my eyelids filling slowly at the not so subtle rejection of trust Katsuki has in me and abandoning the half full mug of coffee on the kitchen island to slowly pad into my bedroom, quickly followed by Mina, her collar jingles harmonizing with the squeaky wimpers as I cry into my pillow and wait for this evening to come.
