I was about to nod as the car came to a stop. Oh god, we were already there.
Finally getting out of my train of thoughts, I came to focus on my environment and I really didn't like it. Even with the dark tinted windows, it felt like the whole neighborhood was looking at us. It's not even an exaggeration! It took me a few seconds of courage before getting out of the car and there I was, blinded with the strong light of the sun. I didn't remember it being so bright... That's how dark it is in Noct's limo. Talking about the prince, he immediately followed behind and stepped out as he brought out his hand in front of his face. Confused, I stared at him for a few seconds. What was he doing? Don't tell me...
"Hurry up inside or you'll be late, idiot." He proceeded to softly push me inside the cafe without a care in the world. He wasn't scared of walking outside and doing whatever he wants? Before the door closed behind us, Noct made sure to tell Cor to only pick him up when he calls him and as soon as the bell stopped it's chime, I just knew I was screwed. All eyes were on us, well on Noctis. I guess it was understandable because you don't just see the prince everyday right? I could tell that the cafe dropped silent as soon as we stepped in, but of course, someone had to break that very silent and who else than Iris? "Hey Prompto! You're earrrrrr..." Her words lost themselves in the air as she fell silent like all the other customers. It didn't really last long though as Noctis realized who it was. "Iris?? This is where you're working??" He seemed just as surprised as everyone else in the room whose attention changed towards the brunette. She stood there, unable to find any words to say before throwing herself on Noctis for an embrace.
"Noooooctiiiisssssss!!" She screamed into his ears and into mine's. I almost became deaf because of her high pitched voice, but I could let that one slide. I mean, she hasn't seen Noctis since forever and of course, the prince kindly hugged her back. They stayed like that for a few minutes while I had to go to the back and get prepared for my shift. Finishing wrapping up the apron around my waist, I hurried Iris back to her post before the manager saw her not being productive. Wait no, scratch that. The manager would scold us both for not sitting down the prince as soon as he stepped inside the shop. Thank god he sat down at a table close to the counter before she walked in, the poor woman who was wondering what was going on. As soon as she laid her eyes on the prince, I could swear she lost her balance for a few seconds before walking up to him. Impressive how she kept her composure after that. As if he was any other customer, she was about to ask him for his order until he mentioned my name. I was too far to hear what he said, but I knew that it wasn't a good sign. In a second, the woman turned her head towards me, scaring to the point of almost dropping my costumer's drink on the floor. It felt like an animal hunting it's prey. Seeing how she reacted, I could tell that the prince regretted making my life harder. Glancing at me with an apologetic smile, I quickly forgave him and walked over to where he was sitting. As if we could do some telepathy, I quickly understood what my manager wanted to say as she passed by me. "You better tell me all me about it." was showing all over her face. I couldn't understand why she was mad at me, but I simply let her go, hoping she might calm down.
"I feel like I shouldn't have asked for you instead." The prince had his face in his hand with the guilt nowhere to be seen. He was having fun, was he? I glared at my friend as I placed my hand on my hips, but that only made him grin even wider. "I know I could've still got something from that boss of yours, but I prefer having you around. She looked way too scary." He faked a shiver. I do agree that Livia looks way too strict for anyone who doesn't know her. She has a resting aggressive face, glares without realizing and is way too tall. She used to intimidate her old employees just by standing there until someone pointed it out, that someone being Iris. She a lot more serene now, but since it hasn't been that long, it's sometimes hard for her to break her habits. Regular costumers love her though. She's always very attentive, honest and generous when she wants to. She's also very attractive, but I wouldn't even dare dream about her. She's too scary for me. Iris seems to very like her though. They hang out sometimes and even tried to invite me to their shopping sprees. I'm insisting on the TRIED.
