"Uhm... I think I need to go now. I have an operation to observe, so let's just settle this meeting for tomorrow night." Nuri stood up and carried her bag. She looked at William and then back at me. I lightly shook my head, trying to stop her from leaving. She will leave me alone with William!

"But—" I stopped and I looked at Kyla when Nuri suddenly pulled her to her seat.

"We need to go now." Nuri said emphatically.

"No—" Kyla was about to protest, but Nuri gave her a death stare that made her grumble.

She looked at me for the last time and says, "We're not yet done, Elo, and you—" she pointed at William, "Shes my sister. I'll keep my eyes on you— attorney."

I facepalmed because of what she said. I hope William doesn't take what she said seriously.

Nuri excuses herself and Kyla before leaving me alone with William. I leaned against the table and massaged my temple. Arguing with Kyla drains my energy. I don't know what I did wrong to make this happen to me.

I looked up when I felt someone gently pull the chair toward me. William sat in front of me and placed the tray full of food on our round table. He asked me earlier if I had already eaten lunch, and I was about to tell him that I had already eaten, even though I had not, but my stomach suddenly growled. Its so embarrassing.

I quickly looked away when he met my gaze. His serious stares are too powerful.

I took a deep breath and called on all the goddesses to give me strength and courage to talk to this man.

I slightly opened my mouth and was ready to say something, but he preceded me.

"Those two girls earlier, they are your friends, right? Did you tell them that the issue about us is all false?" He picked up his forks and started to eat.

I looked down at my food and nodded. "Butthey didn't believe me. Especially Kyla, she really thinks we're in a relationship." I sigh. "I apologize for being careless, sir—"

"William, just call me William." I slightly nodded and looked away. His deep voice made me more nervous. I clear my throat before continuing speaking.

"Uh, William... I sincerely apologize for this shambles. I promise, I will clean up this mess and tell Jake the truth. Hes the one spreading that we were in a relationship because he saw us kissing and hugging—I mean, hugging you last night. I know it can affect your work—"

"Actually there is."

I immediately looked at him. He puts down his forks. "I want to resign from being a professor."

I blinked. Maybe he's joking, so I tried to laugh, but it ended up sounding fake.

"Im serious, Eloise." I bit my lower lip when a smirk formed on his face, making his dimple on his right cheek show up. "Im planning to resign this year, but my parents don't want me to leave that university." I leaned forward, waiting for him to continue what he was saying. "Because that university school of law is owned by my family, when they find out that I have a girlfriend, there's a chance that they will let me resign as a law professor and do whatever I want."

I raised my eyebrow as I watched him drink his juice. So in the first place, he doesn't want to be a professor? Is it only an attorney? Wait—does he want to continue this fake relationship?

"So your saying is... you want to continue our fake relationship and not knock it off this issue?" I ask, shifting slightly in my chair, looking confused.

"The decision is up to you. I'm just explaining my side." he says.

Why did he suddenly become cold? "You said, when your parents find out that you have a girlfriend, they will let you do whatever you want. Why don't you just get a true girlfriend then?"
