The Ike's Residence
Chigo was seated at the dining table some days later with his parents and sisters. He was already getting used to being at home and having his time all to himself.
''So Chigo, your mother and I have decided that since the JAMB examination has been taken,we cannot afford to wait till next year for your admission to be processed. You will be registered for the diploma program at the University of Lagos, where you will study Finance. And come 9 months if you do well, you join them proper in year 2''.
''This isn't even a matter of if you do well anymore, Mrs Ike chipped in. You have to do well, and make good use of your opportunity''. He just sat listening to his parents make plans like he was invisible. He wondered how much their business meant to them that they were ready to go the extra mile even if their son wasn't happy.
He had already made up his mind to do it and please them once and for all.
''Do you hear all that we have said'', his father asked. ''Oh now suddenly my input is needed'' he said to himself. ''Yes sir, understood.''''Ugo and Ifeoma, hurry up. The driver is waiting for you if not you'll be late''. The twins tried to hurry and leave the house. He couldn't wait to be all alone in his room so he could continue his research when he heard his mum say ''and Chigo please go and get ready we are going to get the form today. No delays anymore''. He mentally groaned. Did they have to rush him for everything? this school wasn't even running anywhere if he didn't go this year. At least those were the thoughts that still filled his head. "Yes ma'', he couldn't help but reply.
They were on their way back to the house after going to Unilag to purchase the form and fill the necessary requirements.
''Do you want to have a tutor for the exam or you can study in your own'', his mother asked.
''I can study on my own. It's not like the course is foreign to me''.
''I am just looking out for you and what is in your best interest'' she completed.
''Thank you mum''.
They already got some past questions booklet he was going to use to study. The exam was in less than 2 weeks. Having purchased the form late,he had just limited time to read for the exam; but he promised to make good of it.
The Okonkwos residence
''Ada Ada Ada!!!
Come and open up jhoor. Do you know how long I have been knocking at your door''.''I'm coming''. Ada practically dragged her feet as she moved to open the door for her bestie. Rose looked slightly irritated to say the least.
''So it is sleep you were sleeping that didn't make you hear me knocking. I even dialled your number,it kept ringing but you didn't answer it.'' Rose complained.
''I'm sorry. I just wanted to take a quick nap. I woke up with cramps and it was hard to read so I just decided to sleep''.
''Being a woman is not easy sha, sorry. Anyways I got you unilag's post utme past questions. I had to branch to the school bookshop to get the latest edition''.
''Aww, Rose come on; you know you didn't have to. I was managing the one I used last year''. She smiled while collecting the booklet from Rose.
''I thought you didn't want with all the grammar you were speaking'' Rose chuckled. ''I'm just making sure village people won't see this one to spoil, anything for my Ada'', she winked.
''Thanks dear. No classes today,it's just 1:00pm oo''.
''Are you minding those lecturers, they will make you wait in the class for them when they know they won't show up,and after waiting they now call the class governor to reschedule. Omo meaning no class for the rest of today. They are still treating us like this because we are freshers... I can't blame them much'' Rose said, the last part looking like she was talking to no one in particular.
They decided to watch some movies on the laptop Rose brought along with her. She was glad she had some company at home. Menstrual cramps could make one wallow in pain for a day or more for some people. They ate and talked about lots of things.
By 5 pm, Rose was ready to leave.
''I need to get started on an assignment that is due soon,we'll see later. And you start reading already''.''Let me see you off now''
''Don't worry, I don't want to stress those delicate eggs of yours''. Rose joked as she left the house.

The Ike's Residence
''How did the exam go nwa m(my child)'',Mrs Okonkwo asked smiling at her song. He looked like he was in a very good mood. She was happy considering the fact that he just sat for an exam with barely a week to prepare for and he was all smiles and jolly. ''It went well mum, the past question really helped, thank you''.
''That's good, your father would be happy to hear this''.
''I don't think you should inform him just yet till we see the results,I mean I am quite positive I did well; but the result will make everything much better'', Chigo said.
She thought he was making sense like the popular proverb that says ''Do not count your chicks until they are hatched''.
''Ok, it's alright. We will wait till the results come out and give him the good news'', she beamed.
Just at that time, the twins returned from school. Tiredness visible on their faces. Even as twins, you could easily tell them apart because Ugochi was a melanin beauty while Ifeoma's caramel skin was so distinct,it shone like those of Mexicans. They were both beautiful and of the same slim thick nature despite their age (15 years). Chigo could only imagine the amount of men that would run after his sisters when they got into the university. He smiled at their lazy figures as they plopped down on one of the settees in the sitting room.
''Good evening mummy, good evening Chigo''. The twins greeted.
''Did you guys run a marathon, why the long tired faces''.
''Bro Chigo, you know athletics isn't even our thing, but they made everyone in school today practice for the upcoming inter house sports event. They said how would we know if we are not athletic if we don't try'', Ugochi replied, the ever outspoken one.
Ifeoma just looked on like she could care less. Most people thought she was a snob because she had this resting bitch face and didn't care to talk much. Getting close to them was the only way one could really tell their true characters. And despite being children of wealthy parents, they were nice and humble to a fault. Mrs Okonkwo made sure of that.
''Tomorrow is never certain, treat people exactly how you want to be treated if the tables were turned'',she always said.
