"I can't show you a run-down part of myself "

Luna's POV
"Luna? Yah! Why are you in your gym outfit?!" Jeremy's voice cut through the corridor, sharp and accusing, like a blade against fragile glass.
All eyes turned toward me. My stomach knotted. I bit my lip, hunting for an excuse, any lie that could calm the storm in his gaze.
He glared, dark and precise, a predator assessing prey. I glanced at Jen, standing beside me—her expression mirrored mine, caught between dread and the instinct to lie.
"Uhm, Jeremy, I'm fine, I promise. I just spilled some juice on myself at the cafeteria," I lied, my voice taut and brittle. He didn't look convinced.
"Are you lying to me, Luna?" His words were low, cold, deliberate, like ice sliding over stone.
"Was it those fools again?" His finger jabbed, precise and unyielding. My eyes followed it to the seven boys.
Six were climbing into a black van, shadows among shadows. One—Jungkook—straddled a black Honda motorbike, hoodie pulled tightly over his head. Even from a distance, he radiated danger.
Does that... prick ever wear color?
Everything is black.
Black pants, black shoes, black hair, black hoodie, black bag, black phone, black watch, black motorbike... black.
Black.
Black.
Like the devil himself.
The demon he is.
Why... always black?
A groan escaped me, and the boys' eyes snapped to me, sharp and wary.
"Luna, if I find out you lied, I'll be very crossed with you." His words were ice, precise, and merciless.
He glanced at Jen. She flinched, gulping under the weight of his gaze.
"Especially you." His hiss carried venom. Jen's eyes widened, and she took a step back.
I moved instinctively, stepping between them.
"You're scaring her, Jeremy," I said, forcing a laugh. His glare cut straight through me, sharp and accusing. He turned back to the car, shadows swallowing him.
Even for a male, he moved with the unpredictable fury of a storm, all sharp angles and suppressed violence.
I turned to Jen. "Are you okay?"
She nodded faintly, still shaken.
"Gosh, he's scary," I teased, pinching her cheeks lightly.
"Don't mind him. Empty barrels make the most noise," she replied, her laugh fragile, tentative.
"I heard that!" Jeremy shouted from the car, cutting through the fragile calm. I cursed under my breath. Jen laughed, tension breaking slightly.
"Goodbye, Luna, see you on Monday." I returned her hug.
"Don't forget to text me, okay?" I waved as she disappeared, leaving me alone with the storm in my chest.

"Hey, Esme," I called, pouring myself some milk. The chill of the marble counter beneath my palms grounded me, anchoring me in the calm before the inevitable.
"Good morning, Luna," she said, placing a plate of perfectly toasted bread in front of me, her smile warm, comforting.
"Good morning," I returned, faintly, letting myself breathe.
