Ash slammed me into the bed and shut the door before I could hear Nicolas' response, if he even gave me one. I could hear Gabriel shouting at Nicolas in the same way Ash began shouting at me seconds after.
"Are you done? Are you fucking done?" He looked angrier than I've ever seen him. "What was that all about? Do you forget why we're here? To find Vee and that other girl. Not to kill each other!"
I clenched my jaw, not saying anything. When he just stared at me, I couldn't help but sigh. "I'm sorry, okay? I'm pissed. I'm frustrated. I feel like if something else comes at me I'm going to die from a fucking heart attack. I know I fucked up, but I couldn't hold it in any more."
He ran a hand through his face and sat on the bed next to me. "Why'd you explode on him? That girl going missing is not his fault, you know that. Lashing out at him for it and guilt tripping him with his sister was out of line. Why would you do that?"
"I told you," I looked down to the sheets on the bed. "I was angry. Well, am angry."
"Okay. You were angry. That doesn't justify threatening to kill him. What was that?"
I bit my lip. That was pretty bad. "I'll apologize. I get it, it was a bitch move and going too far. I'll say sorry, okay? Don't go all therapist on me."
He took my hand and lifted my face to look at him. "I'm worried about you, Heaven. You've seemed to be doing great for so long. You've seemed to be getting better. I haven't seen you act so bizarre in over a year. What's going on? You still love him, don't you?"
I put my face in my hands and groaned. "I don't want to do this now, Ash. Really. Admitting I was wrong so willingly was already a lot. Please don't push it."
"There's no more time. We can't have you and Nicolas at each others throats if we want to find Vee alive. You either need to push it down or resolve it. Clearly, pushing it down isn't going so hot for either of you."
"We won't risk Vee's life," I looked up at him. "This won't happen again, I promise. The pressure just became too much for both of us and we exploded. You know me and you know Nicolas. I'm dynamite and he's the match. We're burnt out now. Won't happen again. Promise."
He rubbed my back and sighed, "okay. Are you okay?"
I nodded. "Did they hurt you? I saw Gabriel was bruised up."
He laughed. "Yeah, that was because he punched the crap out of one of them when they threatened to kill Nicolas when they found him. They put him down pretty quick. Quite the hothead that one. Didn't think he went past a computer geek."
I scoffed. Gabriel was quiet, a goofball and incredibly geeky, yes. But he was scary when he wanted to be. He's a wolf with the appearance of a lamb. "Hothead he is. Can you do me a favor?"
"Anything."
I took in a deep breath and looked down. "Nicolas was shot when we went to the warehouse. He already missed his meds. Can you tell Gabriel to make sure he takes them. The last thing I need is him dying."
He didn't say anything, but when I looked up at him I found him smiling. "Sure," he shook his head.
"What?" I frowned.
"Nothing." He kept smiling.
"What? I already told you I didn't mean it when I said he could have died. Obviously not. I'm not a bitch. Well, I am. I'm just not a heartless bitch. Not that much at least. Ugh, get out. Your stupid face is annoying me now."
He laughed at me and ruffled my hair. "I'll make sure he doesn't die just yet. Anything else?"
I shook my head. I'll grab my meds when I feel up for it. Right now I need a fucking nap.
