"Jenny? Are you okay?" Candi asked me gently.
"Does it look like I'm okay!?" I snapped.
"And wipe that silly grin off your face, Misty."
She turned to me.
The usual sparkle in her eyes was gone.
Her smile seemed too wide, as if it had been painted onto her face.
She started laughing, but it wasn't her usual giggle.
Then, as quickly as it had started, it stopped.
"Bud's gone for a long swim." Dude said.
"Why did the octopus swim across the ocean?"
"Don't know: why did the octopus swim across the ocean?"
"To get to the other tide."
"I hope he's okay," Pip said.
"Of course he is," Misty said. "He'll bob up at any minute, all soggy and wet and feeling sorry for himself. Serves him right for losing the map."
"Soggy but not so Sorry!" I heard from behind me.
"Bud! You've been ages." I said.
"And look what I found."
"Treasure!"
"Where? How?" Misty asked.
"According to my calculations, Treasure Island had to be around here somewhere."
"But it wasn't."
"This was puzzling me until I recalled an old sea shanty about a sunken island."
"So the treasure was down there the whole time?" Pip asked.
"Yep. It had sunken under the sea."
"Speaking of islands, I can see land," Candi said. "We must have drifted back home."
"You know what this means, Gang?"
"No."
"We're almost home and we're rich!"
