Grace smiles at the younger wolf, eyes wide and she flicks over to where the Alpha and Beta are standing. Deep in conversation and completely transfixed on something else other then their mates. The whole field is filled with other families, ones Y/N hadn't met yet. She just knows, this is now her new family. Her mind switches from her family and then to her first love. She misses him, it's fading a little every day. It's slowly going and she assumes that means it's a good thing. The bond once shared is fading so she can hopefully start the bond fully with her mate.

She feels guilty she can't fully give herself to Chris. It's not his fault despite the fact her father did this. She wishes he hadn't. Much less that she didn't get to know him before the ceremony for the mating. She didn't get to really get a feel for the man she is now living with. She is now forever tied too. Her eyes dart to the symbol now on her ring finger.

"Hello?"

Grace's fingers snap in front of the black haired wolf and Y/N shakes her head looking to the woman who is now looking back with an eyebrow raised.

"Did you hear me?"

Y/N shakes her head and whispers an apology as she looks down to her nails. It's been two solid weeks, the black on her nails are fading away and she wishes she could just paint them again. It was a comfort thing and this pack, it has strict rules compared to the one she grew up in. Unless it was some special occasion, of course.

"What's up?"

Y/N looks to the blonde who has a smile on her face.

"I can smell the baby on you."

Grace cheers as she goes to rest her hand on the beta's mate's stomach.

Y/N's eyes go wide, "I'm so sorry. What?"

Grace looks taken back. Her hand pulling away from the woman's stomach as she looks down and then back to the woman's hand. A look of horror and fear painted on.

"Chris hasn't said anything?"

Y/N shakes her head, a terrified look on her face as she looks past the shorter woman whom she is growing to like. Even consider her a friend out of all the ladies, she's made her feel welcome. She's made her feel likes family. Her eyes land on Chris and she shifts a little when she finds his eyes are on hers too. He's still mid conversation with Ryan.

"Wait. Chris hasn't really said anything?"

Y/N shakes her head at the woman, her eyes finding the blonde ones again. A small frown appearing as she looks down to her stomach. She's been feeling a little weird lately. Not herself, but Y/N's chalked that up to the new environment. The changes of her life. It's only been a month in and she's trying to get used to the new normal.

Her eyes finds Chris again, an look of anger now on her face. A permanent one of annoyance and disgust. Grace still mid conversation until she stops when she noticed once again that Y/N isn't listening to her. Y/N is seething. Ryan had told her the moment he smiled the pup on her. Why didn't Chris do the same?
