"Let us go!" Kayda hissed, struggling. The thugs - at least, what Ceyklor assumed to be thugs of some sort - had tied them up together and stuffed the three in a back corner. Despite the uncomfortable angle in which his wings had been pinned up against his sides, being shoved right up against Kayda, who was burning hot with her fury, was even worse.

"Kayda," Sorin whispered. His voice trembled. "Don't make them mad, please."

Kayda ignored him. "Do you idiots have any idea who my father is?!" She demanded, lying through her teeth. "He's one of the richest, most powerful Fire Guardians in Dragonmarket, and he's gonna have your heads for this! All of you!"

"Can I please shut her up?" The purple dragon grumbled to the sleek black dragoness that had blocked them from exiting earlier. They both seemed to be members of the Venom Thieves clan, due to their shimmery scales, long, thin bodies, and cobra-like ridges along the sides of their necks. There were six of them in all, with the same sort of color schemes and narrow, glowing eyes. They kept the room extremely dark, making it hard for Ceyklor to see past the light of Sorin and Kayda's firey glowing nostrils.

"Not quite yet, brother." the dragoness hissed, slivering over to the three. The dragoness had deep green eyes that shone with malice. Ceyklor shrunk down instantly, but he felt Kayda strain against her bonds next to him. "We need them to talk. For now."

"W-what do you want from us?!" Sorin stammered. "We didn't mean to come in here! It was an accident!"

"They look to be around the right age group." the purple Venom Thief piped up from behind his sister. "Older fledgelings, by the look of them. It's possible they might know something."

"Oh yes. Quite possible indeed." The black dragoness turned her poisonous gaze on the three.

Ceyklor's heart was beating so fast, he was worried he might faint. He turned away from her blazing eyes, trying his best not to panic. Blink and Brooklyn were still out there; maybe they'd be able to get to them and rescue them in time.
