"You didn't tell him I'm your sister but you told him about my sleepwalking habit?!"

"It was irrelevant at that-- OW! Stop hitting me, you vicious woman! Sto-- Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Mark! Send help!" Xuxi was running as Xia chased after him, while Mark followed them from behind, amusement dancing in his eyes.

Xia couldn't care less about anything other than her brother's demise. "Do you have any idea how embarassing that is? STOP RUNNING!"

Xuxi obviously didn't listen and continued to run until he reached their house. Banging on the door until his mom opened it, he rushed inside before she could question him.

Shaking her head, her eyes fell on her panting daughter and the boy beside her. "Oh, are you Xia's friend?"

Mark nodded and bowed. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Huang. I'm Mark Lee, Xuxi and Xia's schoolmate and the nextdoor neighbor."

A smile bloomed on the older woman's face. "That's wonderful! Come in! Would you like to stay for dinner, Mark?"

"Oh no, I wouldn't want to intrude." Mark frantically waved his hand, eyes widening.

"Nonsense. Put your shoes on the rack beside the door, I won't take no for an answer."

Dinner was miserable for Xia.

Her parents kept talking about her sleepwalking tendencies and Mark, who was sitting beside her, kept laughing, stopping to look at her every once in a while only to go back to laughing once he saw her scrunched up nose. Xuxi was also laughing, thigh slapping included as always to add to the effect, as he had once claimed.

On the other hand, Mark felt welcomed, a feeling he hadn't ever felt around strangers before. As the night progressed, he found himself stealing glances at the girl beside him, her facial expressions and occassional laughs doing something to his heart. Whenever she caught him looking, she would offer him a small smile, and his heart started doing somersaults and all these flips that he would never be able to physically do. 'It's too quick,' he thought, 'I can't already be crushing on her when it's barely been a day.' But he was, and it didn't help that she was so nice either.

"So Mark," Xia's dad started, breaking his train of thoughts, "how are you finding school so far?"

The boy let out an awkward chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's okay, for the most part, although I can't really keep up in biology ."

"Oh!" Xuxi exclaimed, pointing at his sister. "Xia's the best at biology. Maybe she can help you!" he cheered.

"Yeah, I wouldn't mind," the girl wiped her mouth with a napkin, "we can schedule tutoring sessions or something, if you want."

"Yes please," Mark breathed out before realizing what he said and shaking his head. "I mean yeah, thank you."

"Whipped," Xuxi whispered to his mom who giggled in response.

Once dinner was over, Mark left with a full stomach, a smile on his face, and Xia's number on his phone.
