Our lips were just quarter an inch apart. Our eyes closed momentarily as our lips met.

"ABIGAIL!"

Almost.

We both jumped back in fright, almsot embarrassed that we were caught red-handed by none other than Abigail's father.

"Haa...hi, Mr Ca-Carthy." I greeted him, looking everywhere but him. My eyes danced between the porch roof, Abigail and her father.

And I could tell the pleasant morning had just been replaced with a dreadful storm.

The man looked deadly, furious in anger. His eyes danced between the both of us, calculating the scenario. But for an angry man, his shoulders were quite slumped down.

That's not what you are supposed to focus on now.

Yes, right.

For some reason Abigail was shaking tremendously, not meeting her father's eye at all who kept on glaring at her like she had committed a huge sin.

"Mr Carthy, we had just gone to catch up on our assignment and—

"I think you should leave." He spoke sternly, leaving no room for argument.  I wasn't going to object but I wasn't affirmative about leaving either.

I was worried but not for me, of course. Her smile had disappeared and so did the purity in her eyes. It had lost its spark and suddenly they were just too gloomy like a dusty summer afternoon.

I nodded reluctantly, switching glances between both. Abigail spoke nothing rather stood there like a mannequin, put in there for show. I waited for another 5 seconds for her to speak but nothing and that was alarming enough.

Bidding them a goodbye I make my way towards the car, still walking baby steps. The ferocity in her dad's face and the grimace on hers wanted me to run back to her, refusing to leave her alone.

Why? Why me? Why us?
I almost cried out loud to God in anguish and pain. Everything was perfect, beyond perfect but no! You cannot see me happy, ever!!

First Meera di, then mama-papa, Colton and now Abigail.

I hate my life!!

Fiddling with my car keys, I dare to look back at the figures. Her crystal blue eyes were looking at mine, shining with hope?

I don't know!

I was too confused about everything and anything. This is not how our date was supposed to come to an end.

Abby jumped up out of nowhere; switching her focus back to her father whilst he ordered her to get inside. I couldn't tell what he was yelling at her but the actions made it quite obvious to what he wanted.
