16. A person behind everything

"H-hey... isn't that.."

"B-Bethany!!!"

The loud noise of certain girl get everyone's attention first towards herself and then Bethany. She wanted to ran towards her if there wasn't guards beside her.

Some of the prisoners were happy to see her while others gulped nervously. Even some of the guards were trying to keep their distance from her. They were treating her like a walking bomb.

"I do apologize from everyone I hurt that day" she said and bowed. No one dared to say something afterwards. Not even the guards.

"You don't have to apologize. I know it wasn't you"

She raised her head towards Sarah slowly and saw her, standing in front of her with a gentle smile. She thought Sarah wouldn't forgive her after all of the damage she get but seems like she wasn't angry from the beginning.

"Yeah, there's no way someone soft like you would hurt someone" Harley added. Her voice was cheerful as usual with a wide grin on her face.

Bethany felt sad by her words because she knows she did more than 'hurting' others to live. The feeling of guilt raised in her chest again as if she was lying to them out of fear again.

"C'mon let's sit. We've to talk" Harley said and dragged her towards the spot they usually sit without noticing the Asian girl behind her.

"Why're you suddenly sitting with us?" Harley asked suspiciously. She never talked to this girl before but she has a feeling that this one is dangerous despite having a cute. There's a rumor that she never loses in a gamble.

"Because I have to" she answered in a annoyed expression before sitting down next to Bethany.

'Why do I have to babysit someone else's girlfriend? I'm tired. And now I've to talk with most annoying type of person in the world' Anna thought as she sighed deeply in disappointment. She hates the mere thought of breathing the same air as Harley. But thankfully there's Sarah here too.

"What do you mean by that? Just f*ck off-..."

"Let's sit with her together, Harley" Bethany cut her off even before Sarah could hit here for cursing. Both of them stared towards her weirdly.

"When did you become closer to likes of her? I hate arrogant b*tches who smiles on the surface but..-"

"Shut up Harley. Just eat and be quiet" this time Sarah interrupted her. Bethany wanting to sir someone and defend them so badly is a rare sight. Harley wasn't getting the hint at all but Sarah understood the situation.

'She's being threatened by someone'

"Ughh, you're so unfair" Harley mumbled and started to eat.

'Who can threat her? A police? Or warden? Or someone else who is more powerful than him?..'

Sarah couldn't think of any possible person. At first she thought it was warden but he doesn't have to send her here if he wanted to shut her up. Taking the risk and even sending spy along with her is unnecessary.

'But who?...'

"Bethany, did your body recover?"

"No. I've to go back"

"Can you come here to talk again?"

"No. Doctor said I've to stay at clinic for another few days"

"I see.."

Just from that conversation alone Sarah realized that today's the only special day and there's someone really powerful behind this case. That person manipulated someone to give her a drug and keeping her to do something.

And maybe he or she's the doctor she mentioned.

"I just wanted to apologize. He said I hurt two of you really badly that day"

"It's okay. We're okay now"

'So it's a he'

The mood was gloomy. And lunch time passed faster than she thought as everyone went back to their cells.

"Hey Sarah, why're you so gloomy today?  What happened?" Harley asked. Sarah stared at her quite a while, thinking she might help her but with her terrible acting skills they'll get caught in a minute.

'Wait if the person behind it is a doctor then isn't it easy to meet him? Maybe I might recognize his face'

With that thought she smirked devilishly before dropping the vase on the window purposely and cut her arm. It started to bleed badly which surprised Harley greatly.

"Oh shit!! Are you okay? Help! She got hurt! Please help her.." she shouted loudly and covered her arm with her sleeve. In few minutes warders rushed in with a first aid kits.

'No, no it'll ruin my plan'

She didn't think there'll be a first aid kit. Nevertheless there won't be any other chance than this so she fainted. Of course she's faking it but if one of the warders didn't catch her in time she would've fallen on the hard floor on her own.

Just imagining it hurts.

"Let's go to the clinic before things get worse. Call the doctor" one of them commanded and after few minutes of struggling to carry her, Sarah finally reached her destination.

She felt that warders were leaving and the doctor checking her arm. He bandaged it but didn't do anything other than that. Just when Sarah was getting more suspicious he spoke.

"How long are you planning to pretend?"

From his tone alone Sarah knew he was angry. The man doesn't have pleasant voice expected from doctors.

"Until you called me" Sarah answered as she slowly opened her eyes. She saw white ceiling, then a table next to her and the man who looks like a doctor.

'Wait, where did I see him before?'

Sarah's eyes widened in horror as she realized the familiar handsome face. It was the same man whom Harley was drooling after, who was following Bethany like a shadow 24/7. But he was definitely warder at that time but how?

"I was waiting for you anyway. You see, my little girl didn't follow my order to not tell anyone about me. But since you're here, that means she gave you a hint right?"

Sarah's eyes automatically followed the direction he pointed only to find a pale face of Bethany, laying on the bed opposite her. She was simply sleeping but her reaction wasn't peaceful at all.

"W-what did you do to her?"
