When you think of the word 'precious', the first thing that usually comes into mind are rare and valuable stones like rubies or diamonds. But that does not happen on every occasion, a lesson a certain young, green-haired boy named Izuku Midoriya knows by heart.

But how does he know this particular lesson? Well, his mother had always told him this at a young age that 'precious' doesn't always mean the expensive, worldly, luxuries of life. He was smart and understanding but he never completely grasped the meaning of her words.

That is until one faithful day.

Izuku was walking on the dirt road toward his village after another day of doing favors in return for money. It might be tiring but the job also let him out of the village and see the outside world. He was literally Musutafu Village's errand boy.

As he was lost in his own thoughts, someone approached him from behind. The figure then jumped and covered his eyes with their hands.

"Guess who is it!" A cheery, feminine voice declared.

"My. my! Oh, who could be the one blinding me!" Izuku playfully asked, as giggles came from above. "Ochako, I know it's you."

"You got me," was the reply as her fingers gave way to his vision.

The girl, Ochako Uraraka, was a few centimeters shorter than Izuku, her tawny brown hair was in a short bob cut, and her eyes were the color of an expensive sweet known as chocolate.

"So, why are you here?" Izuku asked.

"Can't it just be because I wanted to see my friend?"

"Fair point."

They spent the rest of the day with each other, eating dinner at a cheap establishment owned by Shota Aizawa, the village bard, and going for a walk in the meadow.

As they sat on a boulder and watched the sun go down, Izuku turned to look at Ochaco and all of a sudden, his heart beat faster than ever before. There was something different about her when the orange rays of the sun illuminated her face.

And then, on that moment, he understood what his his mother meant.

'Ochaco is more precious than any beautiful gem.'
