Scarletts PoV
We walked over to where Nellie was buried. My heart was racing with anticipation.
"This is it.." I sat down on the bench and patted next to me. "Just close your eyes and grab my hand and you'll be able to meet her." Dante looked skeptical, as was my family when I showed them, however he did what I asked. I held his hand with both of mine and closed my eyes. Soon, we were in Nellie's heaven. Where she baked bread in her old cottage, and grew her garden.
"Oh my god.." I giggled and Dante looked around in awe.
"Is that my favorite grandkid?" Nellie laughed as she ran over to hug me. "Just don't tell your brother I said that." I nodded and laughed with her. "And you must be Dante." She looked over at my husband and pulled him into a big hug, one that he was not expecting.
"I'm Nellie, dear. Now come in, come in. We have lots to talk about." We followed her inside and while I was happy to see her, I couldn't shake this weird feeling in my stomach.
'Congratulations on your wedding Scar." Dante and I sat down across from Nellie on the couch.
"Thank you Nana. I wish you couldv'e been there."
"Oh, but I was there. I'm always with you hun." I smiled at her and laid my head on Dante's shoulder. She stared at us for a second, the way shes does when something is bothering her. Dante shifted uncomfortably and Nellie shakes her head sighing.
"You haven't told him have you?" She looks at me with slight annoyance. I open my mouth to speak but close it and look down at my hands, knowing that no matter what I say, she'll say it is a pointless excuse.
"Told me what..?" Dante asks. "What haven't you told me Scar?" He looks between me and Nellie.
"A couple days ago she was running in the woods, and something or someone called her a 'Devil Pup'. As you know, historically White Wolves are a sign of destruction." Dante nods and he squeezes my head in reassurance. "Well as you also know, the offspring of these wolves have powers. Aqua, Scarlett's mother, was a human and her mate was a wolf. Her father's bloodline was cursed to have a hybrid white wolf, that was supposed to destroy the world. Thankfully Aqua didn't. Well the witches who put the curse on Aqua's paternal family, were furious."
I looked up taking Nellie's story. My mother never spoke of this.
"Oh I remember this curse. A man named Joseph Krine killed a respected elder in my clan, Griswell. His mate Fiona was devastated and cursed his family. So when the war broke out, The Vampires assisted the witches in destroying a white wolf." Dante recalled. Nellie nodded and looked at me.
"That is why Dante and his family came that day when you guys met. To sign a peace treaty. Well some vampires who still hold connections to that coven of witches are furious. Especially since the offspring of the white wolf, you, are with Dante." I start to shake, my anxiety peaking as I try to take everything in.
"Something else that you should know, that I'm certain your parents have kept from you; When you were born, you had a twin. He died when you two turned 6 months. The witches who seek to finish the job your grandmother started, resurrected him to use him against you. Good luck."
Nellie disappeared and we were back at the cemetery. I started to hyperventilate as a million thoughts ran through my mind. I have a twin? Theres a curse on my bloodline? Dante grabs me and pulls me close.
"Scarlett its okay. Calm down, I got you." He holds me close as I panic and close my eyes. But my panic and confusion turn to anger and sadness quickly.
"They kept secrets from me Te... Major ones.. Why didn't you tell me?"
"I thought you knew. I'm sorry. What do you want to do? Continue on to our honeymoon or confront them?" He kisses my forehead and I calm down.
"Honeymoon. I just want to be with you." He nods and we leave to the car to go to the airport. Though I'm upset, I hope this trip will make me forget for awhile.
