The next day I woke up slowly, rubbing sleep out of my closed eyes. I walked to the bathroom and got into the shower, letting the warm water wash over me. I reluctantly got out of the shower, got changed and went down to breakfast.

"Hey Sam, how are you?" Harry asked.

"I can't complain. And was about you?" I asked him cheerfully.

"I'm good," he smiled.

"So Hermione what does our day look like today?" I popped a grape into my mouth and let my eyes wander through the tables to find Draco -I had to make sure he was eating- sitting alone, eating breakfast and reading the Daily Prophet. I just stared at him for a while, a million thoughts going through my head, and soon he caught my gaze but, unlike the first night, I didn't look away

'Good, you're eating' I mouthed to him.

'I was so hungry' he mouthed back. We both smiled at that comment but I turned away because Hermione tapped me on the shoulder.

"Huh?" I said with a smile still pasted on my face.

She looked a little concerned, "I just read you our timetable, did you hear what I said?"

"Um, sorry no. What did you say?" I laughed.

"Ancient runes, potions, free hour and care for magical creatures," her expression was now one that held curiosity.

"You're very happy today, Sam. Why is that?" Ron said with his mouth full of pork sausage. That boy does not stop eating.

"I don't know," I shrugged.

"What happened with Malfoy last night?" Harry asked.

"I told you already, do you not believe me?" I asked, looking hurt.

"No, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it in that way," Harry said looking at me.

"That's alright," I said.

"Oh goodness look at the time, we are going to be late for our first lesson lets go," Hermione said looking at her watch.

We walked through the corridors as quickly as our feet could take us until we reached the classroom.

The rest of the day was a blur of classrooms, people and food. Finally, when care of magical creatures ended, I started making my way up to the castle when Pansy Parkinson blocked me from going any further.

"Hello Samantha, how are you?" She asked, mocking a sweet voice.

I didn't answer.

Her smile fell for a second but she regained hr composure and said, "You know, I wanted to ask you how your father died."

"That is none of your buisness," I said angrily.

"Hm, that's a shame. My curiosity is just killing me. I wonder...Oh right, he was killed by a Death Eater right? Do you remember what his name is? Of course you do. Lucius. Isn't that right?" She said, showing all her teeth when she smiled, "do you know who he is? He's . . ."

I didn't wait for her to finish. Instead, I just blocked my ears with my fingers , like a child, and walked off towards the lake. Once I reached the lakes edge, and Pansy was far out of sight, I removed my fingers from my ears.

That's why I didn't read the newspapers: I didn't want to see or hear about that man ever again. I didn't want to know if he was sent to prison or not, I didn't want to know if he was still in England or not and I didn't even want to know if he was still alive or not. I heard that he's married. I wonder who would be desperate enough to marry him.

I reached the lake and sat down on one of the rocks. I completely broke down. I cried and cried and was still crying when I heard the crunch of footsteps behind me.

"Just go away!" I shouted. not knowing who it was.

"But everyone needs help sometimes," he said, sitting down next to me.

It was Draco. We just sat there for a moment in silence before he said anything.

"Can I do anything to help?" He asked me softly.

"If you can erase certain memories then yes, but other than that, no," I wiped away the tears on my cheeks only for them to be replaced by new ones.

He chuckled but then stopped and looked at me, "what happened?"

"Pug-faced Pansy happened," I sniffed.

"What did she say to you?" His expression turned to what looked like anger.

"She reminded me of a terrible memory. . .my fathers murder," I breathed in deeply.

He looked a little shocked, "Oh Sam, I'm so sorry. Do you want to talk about it?"

"It was 5 years ago, on a Thursday. I was sitting on the carpet in front of the door, reading, when it happened. He opened the door because someone had just rang the bell. I stood up and was about to walk away when I heard someone saying my fathers name.

I turned around and saw a cloaked figure blasting my father with some spell that caused him to fall to the ground. I rushed over to his side and knelt down, shouting for my mother and telling my father over and over that's it was going to be okay. Obviously it wasn't.

Soon my mother came running out of the kitchen and fell to her knees at the sight. My father pulled me closer to him so my ear was right above his mouth and he whispered, "Tell your mother to call the ministry and tell them that it was Lucius." and then I said "What do you mean it's Lucius?"

His last words were, "Your mother will know what I mean. Someday I'll see you again Salmon." that was his nickname for me, and then he died in my arms. When I told my mother what he said she told me that my father meant that his killer was a Death Eater named Lucius. I barely registered what had happened and for months I didn't know how to deal with all of the emotions that I felt. I soon got over it but I will never forget the pain that it brought and the pa n that it still brings from time to time."

My tears were still falling down my face as I relived that night.

Draco took a deep breath in, "Samantha I swear that I had no idea that he did that. I promise you I didn't. I'm so sorry, I-"

"Draco, what are you talking about?" I asked.

"His name is Lucius Malfoy and he is my father."

"Wh-what?" I stuttered. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

"I swear I didn't know anything," he said, with me on the verge of tears.

"Draco it's okay, how would you have known what your father did?"

"I know but still you must feel hurt, I'm so sorry," he apologized.

"I-I-" all the memories were flooding back into my mind, some of the funeral and some of the day he died. It was all too much to handle at that moment. I started sobbing harder as more thoughts poured into my mind. Draco gently pulled me into a hug and after a a few seconds he started drawing circles on my back with the tips of his fingers. That seemed to calm me down and soon I stopped crying. We sat there, on that rock, looking out over the cool and peaceful waters of the lake for what seemed like hours.
