Wordlessly, Rick leaped from the bleachers. Reddish electric currents flowed around his body as he stared down at the enemy.
“You will not pass,” he declared, “If you want the Vessel, you’ll have to kill me first.”
“Interesting,” Craven observed, “it seems like you are serious about dying.”
“Yeah, someone will die tonight,” Rick retorted, “and that happens to be you.”
“Will you kill your brother in magic?” Craven asked, “We both possess the spirit of Ignis. It would be a shame if we fight. Why don’t you join me instead?”
“Sorry,” Rick replied, “I prefer working alone. Ignis would have been disappointed with your behavior, anyway. Besides, I hate handsome guys who steal all the girls.”
“It only shows just what you are missing, boy. But as they say: ‘regrets come too late’.”
Rick quickly charged at the teacher. Just like Craven’s fight earlier, damage is also inflicted when every part is hit. But the older magician was stronger, and the damage he does on Rick was more devastating.
“Krav Maga, eh?” Craven sneered, “That’s good. But it’s still useless against me.”
Craven quickly performed a spinning kick. Despite the bulky armor, the movement was so fast that Rick didn’t have time to react. His temple was hit squarely by the kick.
The force of the impact sent him flying fifteen feet away.
“Accept it, young man, you have no way of winning against me,” Craven said, “Do not waste your effort on such a useless endeavor.”
Rick shook his smoking head and charged straight at the Slayer. It was still the same thing. The younger man was pummeled with a flurry of blows and kicks that left him a flaming mess. One last kick to the temple, and Rick was finally brought down, unconscious.
“Really,” the Slayer smirked, “why are you so determined to protect her?”

“I heard you were leaving the Legions,” Richard Alderfer spoke to his son, “May I know the reason why?”
It was two weeks ago and his father took a rare day-off from his Praetorian duties to see Rick.
