The rest of the week went ok. Ella was starting to feel really depressed again which caused her appetite to drop again. She ate everyday due to Ashton basically having to force her to sit and eat. He was also constantly monitoring her. She wasn't allowed to close her bedroom door and had to have a bathroom door cracked so that she could do anything.
Ella hated this invasion of privacy but she knew that Ashton was only doing this for her safety. He didn't want anything to happen to her.
It was Friday afternoon. Most teens would be going to a party or hanging out with friends but Ella couldn't. Not that she would anyways. She had a stupid doctors appointment. Ashton made her one with one of his good friends Calum Hood. He had his own practice for pediatrics.
Ashton picked Ella up from school and started to drive to the place. Ella kept quiet. The anxiety was building. She had always hated doctors. She never trusted them before. Ashton was the first doctor she was able to trust. Ashton parked and they got out and started to walk towards the building.
"Do I have to do this?"
Ella wanted to get out of this.
"Yes. We need to make sure your getting better. And you needed a physical anyways."
Ella sighed but didn't argue. She knew she wasn't getting out of this.
They walked into the waiting room and Ella sat down as Ashton went to check her in. The room was medium size with chairs all around the walls. There was a corner of the room where toys were for small children. The room was painted yellow with kids drawings all over the walls. Ella felt really awkward due to her being a 16 year old in a very childish setting.
Ashton came over and sat next to her.
"Everything is going to be fine." He said, putting a hand on her knee.
Ella nodded and played with her fingers.
"Ella Irwin." A nurse called.
Ella stood up but felt like she could move. Ashton took her hand and guided her to walk. The nurse took them to a small room to get her vitals.
"Ok sweetie, can you take your shoes off and stand against the wall for me?" The nurse asked.
Ella took her shoes off and stood against the wall. The nurse then asked her to step on the scale. Ella looked to the scale and her eyes started to fill with tears. She didn't want to know the number. The thought of knowing scared her. She started to shake in her spot.
"Ella, you don't have to look at the number. Look at me." Ashton told her.
Ella nodded. Wiping her tears before stepping on the scale. She faced towards Ashton and he gave her a small smile which she returned. The nurse took her temperature and checked her blood pressure before taking them to the exam room.
"Dr Hood will be in soon."
Ella sat on the bed and swung her legs back and forth.
"Everything will be ok." Ashton told her again.
Ella nodded.
There was a knock on the door before doctor Hood came in. He had blonde hair that slightly stood up. He had a little bit of facial hair and bushy eye brows. He smiled when he saw Ashton and shook his hand.
"How are we doing today?" Dr Hood asked.
"I think we're doing already. Ella just a little nervous."
Dr Hood nodded. "Well, there's nothing to worry about. I'm just going to give you a check up and make sure everything is good."
Ella nodded.
"Are you comfortable with Ashton being in here with you?"
Ella nodded. She didn't want to be alone. Especially with someone she just met.
Dr Hood nodded. "Let's get started then."
Dr Hood got his stethoscope and brought it to Ella's chest.
"Focus on your breathing." Dr Hood said.
Ella stared at the floor and focused on her breathing. Dr Hood then moved to her back and asked her for some deep breaths. After that, he checked her eyes, nose, mouth and neck before moving into her stomach. He had her lay down before starting to press down.
"Have you been getting your period?"
Ella felt awkward answering but answered anyways. "No, I lost it a little while back."
Dr Hood nodded. "We'll keep an eye on that."
After checking her stomach, he moved onto her back to check her spine. After he was done, he let her sit back on the table.
"I want to do some more blood work sometime to check on her levels but today we need to do two shots since she's due."
Ashton nodded. Dr Hood excused himself to go get the supplies and Ashton stood up as Ella started to cry.
"Please don't make me get shots. Please don't."
Ashton felt bad but he knew it was necessary for her health. "I'm sorry hunny, but you need these to stay healthy."
Dr Hood returned with the supplies and sat them down on the bed next to Ella.
"Ella, I want you to look at Ashton while I do this."
Ella shook her head. Tears were streaming down her face. Ashton grabbed her hand and turned her face to look at him.
"This will all be over soon." Ashton said.
Ella felt Dr Hood wipe her arm and then felt a pinch followed by another. He put a bandaid on and then he was done.
The rest of the evening was quiet. Ella went to her room and read while Ashton made dinner. She didn't really talk about her feelings which worried Ashton. He didn't know how she was doing.
He wanted to find out how she was doing but he didn't know how to do that. And this was the first time he was questioning what to do.
