quick note: I left the fandom, oops but I'm back and I feel weird for writing cashton but I don't actually ship them romantically irl, so for the sake of nonfiction... let's get onto the story. Also, did I mention everything will be in Calum's pov?

The kickback was a bust. Every minute someone new was snapping me out of my daydream, not my fault I heard every story Luke told about 20 times now. By the time I got home, it was 3 am and I wasn't even that sleepy. Then I noticed how weirdly quiet it was in the tiny house, which was unusual since the house was occupied with two rockstars. Calling out Ashton's name, I was met by silence. That gave me a clear enough answer, no need to call Ava's name too.

As I made my way to the kitchen my eyes landed on grocery bags filled with baking supplies. When I crouched down to further inspect the bags, I noticed a little sticky note on top of the bag with flour. Turns out mom had dropped it off while I was at Andy's. With a wide smile on my face, I make a mental note to call her at a reasonable time and then placed the sticky on the fridge. Totally not a momma's boy nope. Quickly running to my room to grab my phone, I dialed a number that was all too familiar to me. After 2 rings, a groggy female voice flowed through the speakers of the phone. "Calum what the hell dude! It's 4 in the fucking morning?" At that, I laughed loudly further pissing her off. "I know I know Kayla, mum dropped off stuff for making cookies while I was out, come over and you can have some." I heard shuffling on the other side and the voice became less sleepy and more awake as the seconds go by. "What flavor? And double-A's not there?" Double-A, a nickname for Ashton and Ava, which is pretty smart and short. I started to unload the supplies from the bag as I replied, "Red Velvet and chocolate chips and no they're still out for some reason." After a few more quick sentences about the cookies, I finally hung up and awaited the arrival of my very short friend.

Kayla was a close friend since way before the band even started, it felt weird not being in her presence when we went on tour for the very first time. Then as we got bigger, I brought her along with us and somehow she managed to become our hairstylist even though all she does is run her hands through them and tells us we're good to go. Some may say we say we have a closer bond than Mali-Koa and I do, but in reality, all three of us are inseparable. Of course, anytime we'd be pictured in public together, the rumors of her being my secret girlfriend are plastered on every magazine know. Sometimes we'd give those asshole paparazzi a show and give a kiss or two just for laughs.

A series of knocks interrupts my thinking and suddenly a body of mass comes hurling into the kitchen. Oh yeah, she had a key to the house for some reason...I'll confiscates that later. "Hey Kay, I'm doing well thanks for asking!" I say with an eye roll as I see she's already preheating the oven. "Oh hey Calum, didn't see you there, let's get started on these babies yeah?" I- What? "Kayla..this is my house?" I shook my head and just followed her lead, honestly, she lost me at the egg part.  By the time we had finished, the sun was beginning to rise over the hills so we quickly grabbed our freshly baked plate of cookies and our mugs full of milk and rushed outside into the backyard patio to eat and watch the sunrise. We then engaged in conversation, just updating each other on what we missed on our days apart. Even though she is literally my other half, I don't find myself mentioning to her my thoughts about Ashton and I don't think I ever will. She seems to sense my hesitancy, "Calum what are you not telling me?" My thoughts start to race to try to come up with a plausible lie. I must've looked like a dumbass with my eyes wide. Even if I do lie now, she'll know and be annoying about it until I finally cave in and tell her. "I've told you everything?" It came out as more of a question and there she knew I was lying. "Tell me, I'm not leaving until you do" She's not lying, she literally will not leave. "Kayla it's nothing real-" She cuts me off by slapping her hand against my mouth, "Calum I've known you for 24 years now, it's no use lying to me dude." I sighed, she was right. Not once in my life was I able to keep a secret from her for more than a day. I sat there on the lawn chair, contemplating the pros and cons of telling her. Then my mouth opened and I poured everything out to her about Ashton.

By the time I finished, her mouth was slightly ajar and her brows were furrowed trying to come up with how to respond. I decided that if she didn't say anything, then I wouldn't either. We sat in silence for a while until she finally spoke up. "So... it's a crush huh?" I choked on my saliva and pushed her off her chair as she was laughing hysterically. "No, not a crush, can't be. I like girls and he has Ava and he's like a brother to me, that's just weird" I rambled off and then that's when it clicked in me. "It is a crush." Kayla and I both said at the same time, while mines were more downhearted, hers was full of glee. I sighed again, tuning out her excitement. Suddenly I heard the front door click open and then a loud voice booms throughout the house, echoing to back where Kayla and I were.

"Honey I'm home!" Ashton. Then faint giggling was heard right after. I sighed once more. Ava.
