I wake up in bed dressed in my favorite pajamas the next morning. I reach over for Jakob but feel nothing. Then I smell it. Bacon. I take a long hard sniff before happily getting up and finding my way to the kitchen.
Jake doesn't notice me at first so I get to take in the sight. He's in basketball shorts, his feet are bare, and he is lacking a shirt. Not that I'm complaining.
I'm getting so excited watching him and I'm not sure if it's from how hot he looks with a spatula in his hands or if it's the food. I walk up behind him and squeeze his booty.
"Mmmmm....girl, you better watch it." I smirk, "You better watch my breakfast, chef." I run my nails lightly down his back. "Woman if you don't stop that, YOU will be my breakfast."
He turns around so he's facing me and backs me up to the counter. I groan a little bit from how badly I want him. He nips at my neck and I nearly faint.
"Mmm...whose baby girl are you?" I shiver from the desire and manage to whisper, "Yours, daddy." He growls and runs his teeth from my neck to my collar bone. My hands reach for the waistband of his shorts when he suddenly leaves me there, laughing.
"I've got food on the stove, girl. Now sit down and get ready to feed my baby." He stares at my stomach and smiles proudly. "I did that." He turns around to tend to the eggs. "Speaking of 'that,' when are we going to the doctor?"
"My appointment is Tuesday at eight a.m. You don't have to go Jake, they're only doing bloodwork and stuff." He looks at me like I'm crazy as he begins fixing our plates.
"Macy Rhines. You are my wife, that is my child, and I'm not missing a single thing. No matter how boring you make it out to be." He sticks his tongue out at me with that last part and places my plate in front of me.
I watch him sit down beside me and smile as he takes my hand. This is how it's always been with us. Even on our first date. He never sits across from me, only beside me. He doesn't like any distance between us.
"I love you so much." And it's true, I do. Despite the raging war in my heart, I love this man dearly. He smiles softly. "I love you so much more, sweetheart."
"So, boy or girl? My money is on a girl. She'll look just like her mommy and have her daddy wrapped around her little finger like there ain't nothing to it." He winks at me.
"I feel like he's a boy. A beautiful little boy with the brightest blue eyes I've ever seen. A little boy that will keep his mommy on her toes just like his daddy does." I take another bite of bacon.
Jakob kisses my forehead. "Let's have both. Let's have an entire football team of babies." I nearly choke and reach for my orange juice.
"Easy there, killer. One at a time." He frowns at me, "Awh, you're no fun." I laugh and kiss his nose. "You aren't the one with a living creature growing inside of you, hun." He looks at me and says, "Fair enough."
I begin clearing the table when he asks me if I've heard from Tiffany today. "No, why? Knowing her, she's still asleep." I look over to see his handsome face sporting an expression of worry.
"Maybe you're right. She just left here in quite a hurry last night. One minute she's on your laptop and the next thing I know she's running out of the door just saying she has to go." He begins drying the dishes I've washed.
"That is odd. I'll call her in a few minutes and see if she's okay." He nods his head. I know he thinks a lot of Tiff. They were close friends when we met.
I walk outside to get some air while I call her. Before I get the chance to call, my phone begins to ring. I look at the screen and it slips from my hands.
I had to have read that wrong. I look down again. "Xander" is flashing across my screen. So I do what any rational person would do. I stomp it.
I'm staring down at my now crushed phone when my husband walks out of the door. "What did she say? Did you reach her?"
I look up and then back down at my phone. "I dropped it." He follows my gaze and looks back up at me.
"Looks like you dropped it pretty hard, huh?" I try to laugh. "You know me, always the clutz." He smiles and shakes his head.
"We'll get dressed, baby. We'll go get you another one."
