"What are you thinking so deeply about?"

Startled I turned to the voice's owner, it was Sosuke "The first time we met." I smiled softly.

I had been sitting on a window ledge and now he moved to sit next to me, "You know, you were right at that time."

I tilted my head to the side confused, "We had received information that a quincy was living in that city, my orders were to find and execute them."

"But..."

"The order was for your mother, I told them she already passed away." He explained

"Oh." I was somewhat surprised that the soul reapers were fooled so easily, but seeing that I had lived as one of them for twelve years I shouldn't have been.

"So how do you like Las Noches?" He changed the topic.

"There's so much reishi." I extended my hand in front of me, a closed fist, and then slowly I uncurled my fingers to reveal a small blue spark that burst into fire and then settled into a calm gentle flame. "It's feels good to not have to hide." I was still wearing the gloves, but they didn't seem to hinder me at all.

Sosuke was staring at the flame in my hand so I held it out to him, he raised a hand "I wouldn't touch it." I said "It's made of condensed reishi, hot enough to burn the sands of Hueco Mundo."

"Oh my, that's quite an interesting ability." 

"Gin." I greeted the snake-like man walking towards us. Slowly I let the flame flicker and then die out.

"Can all quincies do that?" He asked.

"I would assume that the ones in Wandenreich certainly could." I replied

"Wandenreich?" Gin asked

"The home of the quincies." I answered.

"Do you know where it is?" Sosuke asked

I shrugged "No."

"Hmm."

Sosuke was sitting sort of behind me, my legs were on the windowsill his on the ground. I leaned against him my head on his shoulder. It was silent for a short while until Sosuke turned to Gin "Is Ulquiorra back yet?"

"Ah, yes he should be on his way now." Gin replied.

"I trust that he was successful?" 

I straightened, and swung my legs off the window. Next to me Sosuke stood.

"Most likely." Gin replied.

 "Well then let's the welcome our newest visitor." He turned to me "Coming?" 

I shook my head "I'll sit this one out if you don't mind."

"Very well." He replied, he turned and started walking away "Come, Gin."

I watched the figure of his and Gin's retreating backs until they were out of sight. 

 I turned my head to gaze out the window at the endless sands of Hueco Mundo, according to Sosuke there was a Ryoka girl who could bring the dead back to life. She would be arriving soon, with Ulquiorra.

This girl would be useful to Sosuke. Kaname and Gin were useful to Sosuke. The Espada were all useful to Sosuke, for now. 

Staring at the white sand I found myself unable to find my own worth to him. Was it possible that he only kept me around because I was a quincy? I thought it unlikely, he had shown no interest in the quincy who had come with the Ryoka to save Rukia Kuchiki.
