A Happy Ending

LETO'S P.O.V

I straightened my bow tie for the last time, smoothing over my waistcoat. I stood outside, under a draping canopy of flowers and silk, illuminated my the setting sun.

"Do I look ok?" I asked my brother anxiously and he smiled.

"Yes, stop fretting!"

"Ok but-" I was cut off by the music starting up. I turned my head to look down the aisle, and I saw him. Everything's been worth it just to see my beautiful fiancé in his pale blue tux and holding a bouquet walking towards me. His eyes were already glistening with tears, and he had on his huge goofy smile.

"Wow" I whispered as he stopped in front of me. He blushed hard.

"Friends, family, loved ones. We are gathered here today to celebrate the union between Leto Royaleas and Carter Drawen. I believe the couple have written their own vows, so if Leto would like to begin" the vicar smiled. I nodded and took Carter's hand.

"My beautiful beautiful Carter. I realise that the way we met was not ideal, but, I realised as you walked towards me to marry me, to commit your life to me, to promise your eternal love to me, I realised that these past 3 years 7 months 1 week and 3 days and... 11 hours, have been worth it, if it means that you will be mine forever, that I can be yours forever, that we can be each other's happiness and each other's strength. So I promise to be yours. I promise that I will believe you, I promise to dance with you and celebrate you, I promise to hold you when you fall and I promise to love every part of you to the moment I die." I spoke softly, like he was the only person in the room. To me, he was. He choked up.

"Thank you Leto. Carter, please could you recite your vows" Carter nodded and smiled at me.

"Leto. I used to think that you were cold and cruel. Nothing could be further from the truth. You are open and honest and sweet and kind and handsome. Everything that's led to you being like this has been crazy and insane but so so so amazing. You have been there when I needed you, you have shown me a world of beauty and possibility, you have helped me grow. You have helped me believe in love. And no matter what, I promise to help you believe in it too, I promise to show you how to have fun, I promise to care for you, I promise to embrace change and adventure and above all I promise to be with you and support you and love you until the day I die." Carter cried as he spoke, making me cry too. I wiped the tears from his eyes.

"If you could please take the rings and place them on each other's fingers"

"I give you this ring as a symbol of my eternal love for you" I said, as I pushed the small glittering silver ring on his finger. He bit his lip to keep from crying.

"I give you this ring as a symbol of my eternal commitment to you" he said, a new stream of tears falling. He placed the larger silver ring on my finger.

"It is my great pleasure to proclaim you husbands. Please kiss the other husband"  I wrapped my arms around Carter and kissed him gently. When we separated, the whole congregation stood and cheered. We ran down the aisle, hands intertwined like rope.

Later, at the reception.

CARTERS P.O.V

We were just thanking the guests for coming as they left, as Addison walks up to us, his boyfriend standing just behind.

"Congratulations guys. Those vows genuinely made me cry" he smiled. He beckoned his boyfriend forwards, who put his hand out

"Hi, I'm Sam" he smiled and I shook his hand. I smiled back at him

"It's so great to meet you" I said warmly, and he nodded. He looked between me and Leto.

"Odd I wouldn't have put you two together" he said, frowning slightly. Addison elbowed him in the gut.

"No no, it's fine, to be honest, neither would we" Leto said, before Addison could maime his boyfriend. I looked at Leto, his height (taller than me) his eyes and his smile, these things I wouldn't have assumed would have attracted me to anyone, but he was... my world, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

"Bye!" Addison said, and he and Sam walked off. Leto turned to me, placing one hand on my waist and one in my hand.

"May I have this dance?" He said, smiling wildly.

"Yes" I whispered and placed my head in his chest, and we swayed gently together, under the silent stars and the cool night sky...

I hope you liked the book! Remember there will be other books, and I might be sad but I genuinely cried writing the vows.
