Chapter 5

Maya looked in front of her as she was watching Auggie and Ava.
The two were not a lot of trouble and with her finally realizing what is going on in her life she wanted to make everything last. But she knew that it wasn't even remotely possibly or worth it.
Her father would disappear with time and after that it wouldn't be long before Josh did as well.
It was just her life.

"Don't tell me your mom had kids after you," Maya hears a voice and looked behind her to see her father.
"No. I'm just babysitting. More like hanging out. It's my best friend's brother and his best friend. What you doing here, Dad?" Maya asked.
"I wanted to give you something," Kermit said handing Maya a box.

Maya opened up the box revealing a chain that she immediately recognized.
Smiling at her father he sat down next to her.

"Grandpa gave this to you when I was four. It was before you left," Maya said.
"Now I want you to have it. Maybe someday it will give your children pleasure knowing that the family had some history," Kermit said and Maya smiled.
"Thank you, Dad. Are you leaving again?" Maya asked and Kermit shook his head.
"I'm staying just a mile from here," Kermit said as he gave Maya a piece of paper.
"If you are ever interested in coming to visit. Come over anytime you want," Kermit said as he stood up and walked away.
