My thoughts and the merry chats of the girls were interrupted when a rather old man set foot in the classroom. It was our Math professor. We all took our seats.
Hardly had he given a brief introduction about himself when he started teaching, and, the lecture was pretty much interesting, except I understood but a fraction of it. The concept was so new, that it already freaked me out!
"Welcome to engineering, it sucks, you're gonna love it," I found myself remixing a dialogue from a famous series, and my neighbours tried to hide a small giggle, and failed at the attempt.
The professor instantly gazed upon us, rather, glared at us, it was me, Sarah, and another girl Jessica, who were laughing.
"You know y'all don't have to utter one word in my lecture, is that clear?"
The entire class stared at us. When the professor turned his back toward the classroom, we all hid a tiny laugh, successfully that time. This institute had strict professors, and it was a reputed one, hence they cared about the tiniest things, including attendance which had to be anyhow maintained over seventy-five per cent.
There were ten rows and I found myself sitting at the fourth, beside Jess and Sarah. We took notes, momentarily looking at the time, but the professor didn't seem to go away, and time didn't seem to pass. The lecture got over only when the professor who was supposed to take the next one was at the door already.
This series of thrusting pieces of knowledge upon us continued for five lectures, one hour each, followed by the most awaited recess. I happily got out of the class and discovered how all the hostelites rushed toward the hostel mess to have their lunch. Sarah gave me a warm but worn-out goodbye before leaving for the mess. I was glad I didn't have to go to that place to eat, because according to people who had eaten there, the food wasn't that delicious, and me being a vegetarian, would've had many problems.
I called up Bella and Stella and they replied that they'll be there in the canteen. I went over to the place, at a table of four. I waited for a while before they didn't show up, so finally, I had no choice but to have lunch with the other day scholars of my section.
But Bella and Stella had promised that they would come, and they didn't. I sighed, because they broke their promise.
Soon after having the lunch I'd prepared myself in the morning, I picked up my bag and advanced toward the Chemistry department, where we were supposed to have our practical in the laboratory, and damn, I had a rough time figuring out the route, for the campus had been huge.
There were two slots of practical classes of two hours each, different subjects, which made college of about five plus one plus four - ten hours! It was an enervating schedule, although there were some free lectures too for some particular days; but the more I stayed away from home the better I felt.
I drove back home as soon as the practicals had been done, thinking how the hostel peeps must enjoy after college lectures, in their hostel rooms, with everyone.
They had so many people around them, in the hostel.
I was alone, at home.
After having an undesired discussion with my parents regarding how my day was, I had dinner, and went off to sleep.
