Jolie's POV:
After finishing 'The Little Mermaid' with Allison, I stayed up all night to try and figure out what I'm going to do for money. Even if I wanted to sleep, I don't think I could. The thought of loosing another house scared me. The last time we were kicked out of a house, it took us what seemed like forever to find another place to stay. I had gotten a job at a local grocery store when I turned 15, and 4 months later-between the states money and my work money-we were able to get the house we have now. 2 years later and we're about to lose it.
Since I lost my job, the money we're depending on now comes from the state and Noah's job. Noah uses most of his to pay for whatever he needs for school, and the other bit he has saved for a car. I don't want to take that away from him, him and Allison deserve a chance at a normal life. I try to protect them from Amber, and show them the great things and opportunities there are.
As the years went by, Amber started using more and more of the money from the state to support her addiction. So I have no idea how far behind she is on the bills, or if we have any money from the state left over.
When I finally decided to get tucked into bed, I started thinking about what we would do if we did lose the house. I would still have my car, would Allison and I sleep in there? There was no way I was letting Amber anywhere near my car, but if it came down to it, I might have to.
*
I woke up to the sound of raindrops lightly tapping the roof. I wonder what time it is. I picked up my phone off the floor, it still had the job offering lists open when I unlocked it. 8:43 A.M. I'm surprised I actually woke up that early. I think it was around 2 when I finally fell asleep. I pull the covers off of me and swing my legs over so I'm sitting on the end of the bed. I stretch, and let out a yawn. I'm still tired.
I get up and walk over to my bureau. I see my reflection in the mirror and laugh. My dark locks were tangled and frizzy. I had forgotten to take off my makeup last night and I had mascara smudged under my eyes. "I'm definitely going to need a shower." I say to myself.
*
I got out of the shower and dried myself off. I had picked out a simple outfit for today, jeans and a T-shirt with my blue high top converse. I remembered the message from my manager. It's a Saturday, so the shop doesn't open till 10. I've never worked the early shift, so I'm not sure who's going to be there. Oh well, I'll just be in and out anyways.
*
I get to the thrift store where I had worked, 'Finders Keepers Thrift'. The lights are on and someone inside is setting up everything. I look down at my phone, 9:37 , perfect timing.
I slide my key into the door and unlock it. Inside there was a boy attending the counter, "Excuse me, the stores not open until 10." He had wavy brown hair with red undertones. I look up to meet his jade green eyes.
"I'm not a customer. I'm here to return these." I hold up the apron and the set of keys.
"Oh, yeah Ms.Lancaster did say I should be expecting someone returning their keys. You can put them in the back."
"Thanks." I go to the back and place my keys and apron on the counter next to the calendar. I'm going to miss this place. It was like my home away from home. Yeah I was never good friends with anyone who worked here, but that didn't matter. I always looked forward to going to work to get out of the house, to get away from Amber.
