I finally sat down on the dimly lit bus shaking the water droplets from my hair and coat due to the pouring rain and glae forse winds outside. It had been a sunny day but the weather changed as more people arrived for the late bus, quickly it took its turn and Mother Nature decided to give us all a wash and blow dry at the same time.
After a long day at work I pulled my lanyard reading my name "Penny Jones" from around my neck and stuffed it into my wet bag.Getting comfortable I hoped that nobody would sit in the empty seat right beside me, but began to seen unlikely as the small bus filled with more and more people desperate to get out of the rain and go home.
Pulling out my phone I opened up the Twitter app to help pass the hour bus journey home. Quickly after it loaded the wifi and signal cut out due to the storm locking me out of the Internet world, forcing me to look around at my surrounding and see the other humans who I had no intention of interacting with."Mind if I sit here?" A deep and quite voice asked from next to me. I quickly glanced up not paying much attention to who this stranger was nodding. Sliding across to the seat my the window the voice dropped into the seat.
The engine came on and sent rumbling through the bus: number 24. It buttered out of the bus stop now it had collected the passengers and took of into the storm.
It was only now I looked over to who was sat next to me. His legs were spread out into the aisle, he must have been 75% legs. A squished blonde quiff sat atop his sculpted face under a grey beanie going with the leather jacket and black lip ring supporting the badass look his outer exterior held. He had his hands stuffed into his pockets Protecting them from the cold, super skinny jeans hugged his legs I would kill for with a rip in the knee obviously letting the cold air in. His detailed blue eyes danced across the other passengers making me feel self-conscious of my own dull hazel eyes that did not stand out from my hair like his but more blended in.
I tore my gaze away from the stranger who I would most likely never see again after this and pulled out my head phones. I blasted Nickelback into my ears the amazing drum beat of "We Stand Together" blessing my ears.I looked out of the window seeing shops starting to close their doors and put their shutters down since it would be getting dark soon and it was closing time. A lot of the sky light was already being blocked out from the black clouds above head. Rain droplets hit the ground and bounced back up like balls due to the foresee and speed they were leaving the sky.
The bus swayed slightly in the wind and a rumble of thunder cursed the sky. It was getting colder as the temperature in the air outside the bus affected it inside as we suddenly took and unfamiliar turn out of town.
Beside me I could send the stranger tense at the turn which non of us expected and I could feel the worry radiate off him."Maybe the was a crash, taking a longer way around it?" I felt compelled to reassure him even though I didn't even know this beautiful strangers name. He isn't my type but there was no denying he was beautiful. I think saying what I did wasn't just to reassure him but myself too as I felt a heavy presence in my chest at the sight of town beginning to get small in the distance the driver was taking us.
The guy beside didn't answer me, just turned and smiled slightly. "He must be shy" I thought to myself and he began to play with his long fingers which had emerged from his pockets.
The small almost suffocating bus shock on the windy and bumpy road that we had just turned on. It was most definitely not the way back into town.
Checking my phone again to see if there was anything on the news about a crash there was still signal or wifi.
We continued to go further away from town until there was no sight of it anymore and the bus came to a stop. Murmurs between people who were before not talking filled the bus sending out waves of confusion out.
The lean bus driver stood at the front of the bus creating himself as a dark presence before talking."Alright everyone listen up!" He shouted. "You are here for 24 hours. One goes every hour. BANG. What's the last thing you would do?"
