A/n: seems like most voted for taking a dip. But I decided to delay it for the next chapter as a flashback. I'm really sorry for that. Anyways, happy reading!!
The next day
This is new. Both Carv and Lay were silent our whole elevator ride -jazz music from the elevator saving us from complete silence. Both looked pretty irritated. Carvin won't stop glaring at Lairylle while she kept avoiding eye contact. The atmosphere keeps getting tenser as the elevator descends. I immediately notice small sparks on the speaker.
'when we were in an elevator. Lairylle acted more ill tempered than usual, given Lairylle being mad is a red flag in itself. She got so mad that she ended up breaking the elevator And Carvin was able to hear my thoughts.' 'Well it's best if you keep an eye out.' 'Alright.'
"Soooooo...you guys found out??!!" I blurted. I turned to the usually chaotic four-eyes "..." 'okay??'
"I mean countries?? Us?? I can't even take care of a goldfish! No less,an entire population!"
I turned to the other side at the aesthetic tiktoker. "..."
The elevator already opened but only Lairylle left. "Uh,Lay?? The garden is at the rooftop!!" I said. "Yeah yeah, later." The elevator closes before I could bid goodbye. Carv put her hand on my shoulder with a 'don't bother.' She went to her own floor. 'Guess that leaves me...' I thought. I rolled up my sleeve revealing hints of color in my arm. The floor number starts to turn itself on and off, signalling I'm here.
I immediately unrolled my sleeves back as the door starts to open itself. This was supposed to be a floor specifically for east asian office rooms. I looked for the right door with every door I pass having a coat of arms signifying the owner. I stopped at the door with five stars and began knocking. Soon enough, the door revealed the country I expected.
"你好(Ni hao) (y/n). I see you haven't forgotten our last conversation." "Drop the formality, Chi. I'm not the UN." "The least I could do is make you feel welcome, no? Just some days ago, you and your friends were doing friend things and suddenly you all end up here, not knowing how to get back. And if you don't make it back, might as well make you feel used to these places." He said while whispering the last part to himself.
His steel door shut itself the minute he stepped foot off his room. I guess movement sensors are installed everywhere in this place. I guess I'll keep that in mind. "Alright,we're set." "Hey,where are we going?" "Our training room,of course."
We chatted our whole way through the halls, talking about nonsense and everything. "By the way, what's with the nickname?? Chi? Is that all you can think of?" "I'm running out of ideas, okay?!" Our voices echo in the halls as we pass several sakura bonsai and tapestries of different east asian myths and legends. China eventually halted as I bumped into his back, not paying attention. "Oof." "You okay?" "Yeah, sorry about that."
"Actually, where is the training room exactly?" "Well...I wouldn't say 'room'..." We entered a huge dark hallway with a ceiling that was too far up to reach. What I first assumed were pipes because of the dark were actually different traditional east-asian instruments. I looked up and rows of bookshelves with glass doors are occupied by hundreds of scrolls. China then pushed a gliding ladder to a certain place and started climbing towards one of the shelves. He then took a scroll and slid off the ladder, but not before opening the scroll, possibly because he was making sure he didn't took the wrong one. "Woah, this place is so cool!! It's like I'm six in little nightmares!!" "Little nightmares? Is that a horror movie?" China said as we exited the room. "Well, not really. It's a horror game. Okay not horror, more like suspenseful."
We headed to the elevator again. By this point, I got used to the jazz music. That was about to change. China opened a hidden shelf under the speaker and inserted the scroll inside. The music then changed to a traditional chinese one as I see all the other floors through the elevator door's one way mirror. The elevator then sped up abnormally fast and I held to the handle holding on to my life while China was still able to stand still. He noticed my inconvenience and hurried to my aid. "I apologize, I forgot that your body can't handle this speed!!" I couldn't talk since I was trying to hold back any potential vomit.
The door then no longer showed any floors but instead, a scenery of mountains and waterfalls (pic above). This worsen my current state since I have a fear of heights. I then felt relieved when the elevator started to slow down. And soon enough, the elevator sprouted from the ground with grass on it's top. I shakily made my way out, trying not to trip.
"Are you okay?" China asked. 'DO I FUCKING LOOK LIKE I'M OKAY?!' "I think I just swallowed my vomit." I said with a green face since I have no time to be mad right now. " Sit." China said while grabbing my shoulders and made me sit on a large rock. He hurried to a wall of leaves which turns out to be a curtain in disguise hiding different clay pots along with other things and grind some of the pots' contents in a mortar and pestle. He then hurried to a nearby river and scooped some water while heating it up with a small pot over a miniature furnace. He mixed everything into a small porcelain cup now full of tea and handed it to me. "What's this?" I asked. "Traditional medicine." "Oh."
"Forgive me, I would bring us to the nearest bathroom but that would require using the elevator again." I hesitantly blew the smoke expecting scorching heat, but China then spoke up again. "Don't worry, I made sure not to heat it too much so you wouldn't have the inconvenience of waiting."
Once I felt better, we decided to walk around. The more we did,the more I keep noticing more hidden stuff, including weapons and armor. "So (y/n), how good are you at fighting?" "Well like I said before, my dad sends me to mixed martial arts classes, and fencing from something like thursdays to saturdays...and color guard stuff for the rest of the week so I'm kinda used to getting hit on the head...it's actually how I met carvin, since I only joined when I came to the Philippines.
Geez it's weird saying that after talking to a bunch of countries." China just listened intently. "By the way, how long are we gonna walk?" "Six more kilometers" "SIX WHAT?!" "You know, your dad sounds like an interesting man. What's with him and your capability of defence." "Well, my dad's side of the family is a lot stricter that my mom's." I said as I climbed the trees and following china. Hopping from floating rock to floating rock, vine to vine, branch to branch. Not noticing a thing. Avoiding traps from different ruins and temples. "You can stop now (y/n),we're here."
Infront of us was the same elevator from before. "China,I thought you said our training ground is six kilometers away." "It is, we were just walking in circles." "For nothing?!" "What do you mean for nothing (y/n)? Have you lost count of how many moutains you climbed, how many traps you've avoided, how many trees you jumped on? (Y/n) you should be proud of those accomplishments" "So that was supposed to be some sort of obstacle course?" "You may call it that. It was also supposed to test your patience. Now," He said, taking a sword of its sheath. He then handed it to me. "Are you ready for your next lesson?"
