SANA'A, YEMEN-2016
Radiya couldn't still bear the thought of leaving Yemen. Her mother was devastated just like her but, they were leaving Yemen for the best right?
Taha was still sitting alone in thought, his situation was really heartbreaking, losing both parents and then his grandmother, it was hard. Something clicked in Radiya's mind, what about his grandfather? Where is he? She was scared to ask him, she didn't want to remind him of really dark memories. But she had to know, who actually knows what happened to him?She slowly approached him and sat right beside him. he looked at her and forced a smile on his face, his brown eyes were dim, and his hair was messy from running his hands through it. Radiya was deeply thinking about how to let him open up.
"Want to talk?" She asked. she was awkward, so that's all her mind could come up with. He nodded letting out a really deep sigh.
"I don't know, I don't understand life anymore" He replied. She didn't know what to do. If only she could comfort him in some way. "I know we just met today... But I actually want to know about you Taha"
"I know, it can be tempting to ask about someone who is going to be living with you for some time"
"So..." She trailed off, this was a billion times harder than she expected it to be.
"Just tell me, I have been broken already, no point of watching my feelings, " He told her.
"I wanted to know about your grandfather if you don't mind" She inquired, will he open up?
"Smart. You want to know about my grandfather, huh? He's alive, as I remember, but I have no idea where he disappeared. Do you want to know more, I usually don't open up, but for you, I made an exception"
"Um... Sure?"
"Okay, long story short, after my grandmother's death, he randomly disappeared" That was weird to believe at first, she needs to know more, deeper she wanted to drown. "Why does this even matter to you, can you do something about this?" Taha suddenly felt wrong, why did he open to her from the place.
"I...Um...Sorry, that's all I could say, Taha" She mumbled, what else could she say. His eyes fell back to the ground, who can fix him back? Or was he like this for his whole life?
"I, I don't know if you agree to any of this, but Taha, we have to look for your grandfather" Radiya spilt her thoughts, his eyes raised from the ground and we're fixed on hers. He smirks and doesn't break the eye contact at all.
"I know, you don't want me here, do you?" He angrily ranted. A wave of shock hits Radiya in the heart, she didn't mean any harm, she wanted to help him out. But apparently, he was going mad. Even if he was mad, she didn't judge him, she knew it was the pain leaving him, everyone does that, right?
"No, Taha, I want you here, I don't want you to leave, you and Bilqees are amazing," Radiya remarked, They have come together all this way, they can't just break after this.
"You...I...Thank you Radiya" Taha hesitated, he didn't know what to say, there was at least somebody who cared about him.
"Now, where do you remember you saw him last?" Radiya asked. It was like she was tracking a criminal with her police partner and she was the detective.
