Weston was invited by TK to help him prepare Owen for his fitness test, something about how Weston is a doctor so if anything goes wrong he can fix it, Weston didn't care, he just wanted to spend time with TK.
He pushed his sunglasses onto his head as he walked into the fitness area of the fire station, Owen saw him first.
"Hey, Weston, Judd isn't here right now," Owen said as he suited up in his fire.
"I'm not here for Judd sir, TK invited me to watch you do your fitness test." Weston watches as Owen looks at TK shocked but TK has an innocent look on his face.
"Is it too heavy?" Weston asks when he helps TK put the equipment on Owen.
"I'm getting a hernia just looking at you." TK jokes making Owen smile.
"No, I'm good, come on, let's go." Owen is psyched up, Weston walks over to the fridge and grabs water.
"Okay, so on the day Austin FD gives us 10 minutes and 20 seconds to run the course." TK climbs up while Weston decides to be smart and stay where he was by the tables.
"I'll do it in 9, set the timer." Owen confidently says, it's not Weston doesn't think Owen can do it but he knows it's gonna be hard because Owen has been doing chemo treatments but Weston wants Owen to do it so he can shove it in Billy's face.
"All right, just don't kill yourself, all right?" TK says as Owen nods to TK and Owen starts the stepper.
After Owen finishes with the stepper he does a few laps carrying stuff, Weston notices how Owen is slowing down and he can see his chest rise up and down faster.
As Owen is getting farther in the course he starts slowing down, while Owen is in the tunnel Weston decides he's gonna warn TK.
"Hey T." Weston walked up to him and kept his voice down.
"Yea?" TK's eyes brighten when Weston puts his hand over TK's hip a little.
"Your dad is slowing down, might wanna stop soon," Weston tells TK seriously who nods in agreement.
"Dad, after this I think we should take a break," TK says to his dad who just came out of the tunnels.
"No, I'm fine." Owen grabs a towel and wipes his face off and moves to the next section, TK shrugs at Weston, but Weston was worried, He went to grab the EMT out of the ambulance and when he came back he saw Owen kneeling on the ground with a worried TK next to him.
"What happened?" Weston rushes over to the father and son duo.
"He was carrying the mannequin when he just collapsed." TK worriedly tells Weston.
"Was I on pace?" Owen says.
"What?" Weston asks confused.
"Was I on pace for under 10?" Owen asks more clear.
"You were at 13:22 when you passed out." TK looks at the clock.
"That is less than ideal." Weston goes to grab the stethoscope to listen to Owen and so he can feel his pulse, but Owen doesn't let him.
"We're gonna get my time under 10 minutes with slightly less passing out." Weston looked at Owen shocked.
"You're going to do this again?" Weston put his stethoscope back in the bag and stood up.
"Yes I am, I have to show them and Billy that chemo doesn't affect me." Weston shakes his head huffing walking over to a chair and sitting down.
He wishes that Judd never met Billy, ever.
Weston lets TK and Owen's conversation drown out into the background, he knew TK was trying to do a good thing by inviting him but he's frustrated.
Weston decides to go try to find his brother because's he's sure he would be back by now.
He found them all in the kitchen washing dishes, when Weston showed up they stopped talking.
"What are you doing here Weston?" Marjan asks Weston who grabs a bowl and puts it away.
"TK asked me to come over," Weston says shortly.
"Did you know that the cap had cancer before us?" Paul asks squinting his eyes as Weston.
"I did, only because TK came over to my house when he found out." Weston smiles a little.
"You never told me that." Judd looks towards Weston.
"You never asked," Weston says laughing at the look on his face.
"Look, If this Billy bud, gets the keys to the kingdom, you know he's gonna clean house." Paul point blank said, which made Weston realize what he was talking about.
"Whoa, hang on a minute, man you don't know that. Look, he and the captain don't approach things the same way, but Billy ain't a bad guy. He ain't gonna come through here with a scythe, just 'cause we ain't his people." Weston smirks as Paul gives him a look.
"What?"
"We?"
"I mean, man you ain't just his people, you are his people, people," Paul explains.
"What does that mean?" Judd looks at Weston who huffs but explains for him.
"It means, dear brother of mine, that you're in the club." Weston walks towards Paul leaning on the counter.
"I'm in the club?"
"Yeah, man, the good old boys club, all right? You look like Billy, you talk like Billy, you're gonna be fine like Billy." Paul huffs shaking his head.
"So, I mean, yeah, we're both Texans, but I don't think it matters what I look like." Judd throws the towel in the sink.
"Tell that to probie, he's as Texas as you are and-."
"Ain't nobody gonna be mistaking you two for brothers." Paul finishes Marjan's sentence.
"Yeah, well, then they would be mistaken because we are brothers, because we got the same number on our badge, ain't that right, kid?" They look at Mateo for a response but what he says shocks them.
"I don't want Captain to die!" Weston looks at Judd worriedly and moves closer to Mateo which is what Marjan is doing.
"Hey, Cap's gonna be all right, Texas has the best cancer doctors in the country," Weston says looking in Mateo's eyes, they get interrupted by the bell saying they had a call.
"Meet you at home?" Judd yells at Weston as he's walking towards the truck.
"Always!"
