Smecker and I arrived at the front door step.  I glanced over at Smecker, now a lady, I nearly pissed myself from laughter putting the makeup on him.  He had bright red lipstick smeared on his lips and dark shades on.

He rocked the new look, and I knew that they would let us in, 'two' ladies standing at the doorstep.

The door opened to a pudgy man, "Listen baby. Tonight ain't the night for this shit."

I bit down on my lip and bit the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing.  I kept a straight face.

"You look like you could use a quickie." Smecker stepped closer to the guy.  Smecker steps foward and kisses him and puts his hand on the guys chest.

"Fine, come in girls." He beckons us in and looking frantically around.

"What the fuck is going on?" We stopped in our tracks, as a different guy stops dead in the hallway looking at us confused.

"I ain't been laid in a week." The guy holding Smecker's hand complains. I roll my eyes and slip behind Smecker trying to escape to find the boys.

He winks at me, "Check the basement." He whispers.

I nod and quietly disppear around the corner. I run down the nearest stairs I can find.

Blackness surrounds me as I slowly step down the stairs. I reach into my back pocked for my minitature flashlight shining it at every door.

Three doors.  Crap.

"Murphy? Connor?" I shouted quietly.

I heard shouting from the door on my right. I walk towards it and slowly turn the door handle.

A dim light flickered from above and it smelt mustly and damp. There before me tied to metal chairs was Murphy, Connor and Rocco.

"Cora! Behind you!" Murphy screamed.

I felt a large hand clasp around my mouth, and my head went forward with my body collasping on the floor, my vision became blurry on the sides and then all at once it went black.

The door opened quietly and there stood Cora.  No she can't be here, they'll hurt her!

"Cora go home!" I wanted to scream but stopped as I watched in horror as a dark figure hovered behind her covering her mouth.  Her eyes went wide with shock and the guy bashed her on the back of the head with a metal pipe.

Cora. She collapsed on the ground, her beautiful light brown hair spread out across the floor.

"Get your flithy hands off her!" Murphy screamed as the guy snatched her up, tying her hands behind her back, and then carried her out of the room.

Rocco's boss, Papa Joe, strolls into the room with a smirk on his face, "You boys brought us a lovely swedish girl." He licked his lips.

"Touch and you die." Rocco growled at him. I glanced over to Rocco surprised, he hated Cora and she hated him.

"Rocco, I've had enough of your flat babbling mouth, you are useless to me." He pulled out his gun in one swift move and shoot Rocco in the middle of his chest.

Rocco fell backwards from the impact.

"Rocco! No!" Murphy and I screamed, we inched our chairs closer to Rocco's body.

"Rocco, don't leave man." Tears streamed down both of our faces, not Rocco, he was a real idiot at times but he's a good guy.

Anger exploded inside of me, they have Cora and they took Rocco from us.

I glanced up at Murphy and nodded.

I inched my chair in front of Murphy's so he could break my hand so that I could untie us both.

After, we knelt before Rocco and placed two pennies on his eyes and started to recite the prayer.

Someone behind us finished the prayer, I looked back to find the same old guy that stopped us at Cora's Aunt's house. The same guy that shot Cora in the stomach.

His words match ours perfectly, he leans against the wall, holsters his guns and takes a long drag from his cigar.

A smile twists onto his face and kneels down in between Murphy and I. I eye him warily, I look at him closer, and I gasp. Father.

He places a hand on both of our cheeks.

An ear-splitting scream fills the air, I knew that scream from anywhere,"Cora." I turned and looked at Murphy.

"Let's go." Father stood up quickly helping us up and we sprinted towards the sound of the scream.

We busted down the door to see Cora being hit numerous times before us tied up to a chair.

"Get the fuck away from her." I growled and shot the guy in the back of the head. I hurried over to Cora and untied her.

She fell into my arms and I hugged her tightly.  She looked up from my shoulder at Father, "Who's this?"

"This is our father." Murphy introduced the two and we hurried out to Rocco's car.

A few days later

It's been a few days since Rocco has died, we closed the apartment and sold it to a young couple.  Hopefully it still doesn't smell like cat. We bought another apartment on the other side of town, still keeping in touch with Smecker, who still never told me what happened that night.

I sighed as we all sat at the kitchen table.

"How far are we going with this, Da?"  Connor asked.

The questions is not, "how far? The question is, "Do you possess the  constitution, the depth of faith to  go as far as is needed?"

I turned to look at Connor and leaned in to kiss him, "Hell yeah we do." I said, and I felt myself melt against his touch.
