Yanking Out My Heart (A Chad Kroeger and Ryan Peake Fan-Fiction)

Chapter 3

It was just a few minutes until Ryan comes and picks me up for our date. I was kinda nervous yet, excited at the same time.

"How do I look?" I ask Haley as I walk down the stairs.

"If he doesn't fall in love with you tonight, I don't know what will make him!" She says and chuckles. "Are you nervous?" She asks.

"Of course I am, a little. It's my first date with Ryan. It makes it 20x worse since he's from Nickelback!" Just as I get done explaining myself, I hear the doorbell.

"I got it!" I say walking to the door with Haley following right in behind me. I check myself one last time before I open the door.

"Hey Ryan." I say and give him a hug.

"Are you ready?" He asks me. I nod my head in acknowledgement.

"Okay you two. No kissing, no holding hands, be back by 9 and especially no sex! Avery..." Haley says jokingly as she looks my way.

I roll my eyes as me and Ryan laugh. "I'll see you in a little bit." I say as Haley shuts the door. Ryan walks me to the car.

"Wow, this is a nice car." I say as I get inside.

"Well, when you're in a band that's gone 10x platinum, you can afford some pretty nice things." Ryan says and starts the car.

"Where are we going?" Ryan asks as he starts backs up the car.

"I heard there's this really good Italian place downtown, we should go there." I say to Ryan.

"Oh yeah, you're talking about Mario's! I love that place." Ryan says.

The first 2 minutes of the car ride was silent. "How's the new album coming along?" I ask trying to get a conversation going.

"It's going good. We have about 3 more months to finish it. Chads still writing some stuff..... Speaking of Chad, I kinda heard what happened between you two the other night."

"Listen, don't be mad. I was drunk, he was drunk I really didn't know what I-" I say before being interrupted by Ryan.

"It's okay Avery. Why would I be mad? We're not together or anything. I don't have the right to be mad." Ryan explains.

"I know that but I'm also upset that Chads relationship is over because of me. I don't want you to be mad or upset at me over that." I say.

"Don't feel bad, it's not the first time it's happened to him. He's gotta learn someday that if he wants to stay with someone and be in a relationship, he's got to stay faithful." Ryan explains. I sat there in silence not knowing what to say.

We finally arrive at the restaurant and get seated.  "Wow, this is a nice place." I say to Ryan.

      "It's one of my favorite places to come to in Vancouver." Ryan explains as the waitress walks up to the table.

      "What can I get you guys to drink?" The waitress asks.

      "Daiquiri please." I say and look at Ryan.

       "I'll have the same, more rum though." Ryan says as the waitress walks away.

      "So how do you like Vancouver so far?" Ryan asks me. Just as I started to answer him, his phone rings.

    He looks down at it. "Damn it. Sorry, it's Chad, let me take this." Ryan says as he stands up from the table and walks outside.

   (Ryan's POV)

C: "Hey dude, want to come over and party or something? I just bought a whole case of Budweiser?"

R: "Uh, as much as I'd love to do that man, I'm actually on a date right now.

C: "Who's the lucky lady?"

R: "It's actually Avery."

      There was a silence between me and Chad.

C: "I gotta go." Chad says with a pissed off tone and hangs up.

End of Call

     I look down at my phone, "Did he just hang up on me?" I accidentally say out loud. Why the hell is he pissed, there's nothing going on between those two is there?

       (Avery's POV)

      I look up and see Ryan returning to the table with a slightly pissed look on his face.

      "Are you okay?" I ask him as he sits down at the table.

      "Yeah I'm fine, why?" He asks me.

        "Nothing, you just seem tense." I say as Ryan nods his head.

       The rest of the night went very well. Me and Ryan spent our night laughing and sharing stories about our lives.

      Ryan drove me back home. When we pulled into the driveway, I look over at Ryan. He looks  over at me in the eyes and lifts up my chin up.

       "I had a great time tonight." He says and smiles. Before I know it, he pulls me in and kisses me. As soon as our lips met, all I could focus on was him. When I pulled away from him I looked him in the eyes and smiled.

      "You want to come inside?" I ask him. When I asked that, he gave me a seductive smirk.

      "I'd love to." He says. We both get out of the car and he grabs my hand as we walk to the door.

        When I open the door, it smelled of alcohol and men's cologne. I look down and see a t-shirt lying on the ground. I look up at Ryan in confusion. He shrugs his shoulders just as confused as I am. I walk into the living room and can't believe what I'm seeing.
       
       "What the fuck?" I say as I see Haley on Chads lap making out with him. He was shirtless which explains the shirt lying on the floor at the doorway. I look over at Ryan who was just as shocked as I was. Both of them stop what they are doing and Haley stands up quick.

       I feel my face go hot and my eyes well up with tears. Although I never admitted it, I've had feelings for Chad ever since everything happened between me and him.

       "Avery, it's not what it looks like." Chad says and starts to walk my way. He puts his hand on my shoulder before I push him away.

      "Don't touch her." Ryan says and gets in Chads face and both of them stare each other down.

       "Hit me damn it, I dare you." Chad says and smiles.

       "Chad, you're drunk, this drinking shit's getting out of hand . It's ruining your life. What happened to you man." Ryan says and turns towards the doors.

        Before Chad could say anything, Ryan grabs my hand and walks me towards the door. "Lets get out of here, we're going to my place." Ryan says.

        As we was walking out of the house, I turn around and look at Chad. He was standing at the island in the kitchen with his hands in his face crying. That's the last I saw of him before I turned back around and walked out the door and to Ryan's car.
