There's something tragic, but almost pure

Think I could love you, but I'm not sure

Joey dodged Oliver, who was supposed to cover him, without any effort whatsoever. Practice had started twenty minutes ago and all the boys had given up hope of stopping him. He was too damn elevated for any of them to be able to keep up with.

Joey, with a grin on his face that hadn't gone away since lunch, threw the ball over their heads and watched satisfactorily as it went right through the net.

After the whole thing in the chemistry class, he'd spent the next period in the principal's office and sadly missed the class he had with Elena. But even almost a solid hour of scolding had failed to deflate him. She had said yes and there was nothing else on his mind.

Ben's voice brought him back to the present, "We should've gotten Elena here ages ago!" He pointed towards to Joey, "Look at him! He's practically flying around the court."

Joey opened his mouth to quip back but the door opening turned all their attentions towards it. School had ended a good half an hour ago so the only people left were club members, who very rarely, if at all, came to the court. They watched as Elena of all people strode in.

Joey wasn't scared exactly but seeing how she was stomping right towards him, he wasn't taking any chances and quickly slid behind Alex holding onto Alex's shoulders to cover himself.

Elena, utterly joyous and pretending to be angry, stomped over to him and glared over Alex's shoulder, "You stupid prick. I said space and time and you pop in my classroom and ask me to be your girlfriend!"

Joey grinned back at her and reasoned, "You said yes."

Elena fought back a smile as he brushed away the hair falling on his forehead and said, "The whole school knows now!"

Joey, still hiding behind Alex, replied, "They would've found out eventually. It's not like I'm never going to kiss you in the corridors."

Her mouth fell open and the rest of the boys chuckled. She watched as Joey smirked and to irk him, said, "We'll see about that." Shaking her head softly and flipping off Ben, who was drawing a heart in the air, she turned back towards the door to the court.

Joey immediately jogged behind her, "No!" He dragged the word as he caught up to her, grabbing her elbow and spinning her back to face him.

Elena scowled up at him, as he effectively hid her from the views of all the boys, both his arms wrapping around her waist, trapping her in.

Joey smiled, loving the feeling of having her back so close. "Take as much time as you need, I'm just making sure that nobody tries out their luck to get with you in the meantime."

"Oh, so this is you being territorial. That makes it completely fine," she said, her voice dripping in sarcasm. She tried to turn away, nearly succeeding when Joey tightened his grip around her and her back became pressed to his sweaty jersey.

Joey leaned down, resting his chin on her shoulder, and said, "Everybody already suspects that something is going on, I just made it official. And I know you don't mind it, so what's the problem?"

Elena shifted her head to look at the side of his face, "I wanted you asking me to be low key, and not something everybody is going to keep talking about for a few days."

He pressed his lips to the corner of her jawline, holding himself back as her head automatically tilted to the side to give him more access. "Sorry," he mumbled, breathing her in.
