(Y/n) POVI waited until Zex had disappeared around the corner before taking a deep breath to focus my mind. It's time to let my father know of my humiliation. Again. Despite the fact he takes my normal reports with ease and urges me to quickly improve my capabilities, I still can't help the fact that I fail him. My human body is nothing compared to the superior form of a Sangheili.
The height of nobility, the strength to cause fear in the hearts of humans, the power and versatility to handle any situation thrown towards them without fail. Hell, even the minors are still fearsome to the enemies of The Covenant.
Then there is just me with the strength to barely rival a kig-yar. If only I had the strength of those Spartans then I could merely compare with the Sangheili. But that won't happen. No matter how much I would have tried to help the UNSC, they wouldn't grace me with such a power.
"Still wallowing in self loathing I see." Came the one voice I wasn't ready to make an encounter yet. My muscles instantly tensed from being caught of guard before they immediately relaxed allowing me to meet my father gaze. Like normal, his eyes are gentle taking in my worn down state and rising bruises. "Utan hadn't held back. Which means you're getting stronger."
A small smiled made its way on my face from his optimism but I felt it squander knowing the truth, "can I explain it to you in the comfort of our room?"
"Of course, forgive me for not recognizing our current position," father said as he moved backwards inside of the room before closing it after me. Despite being called our room, it's the engineering and technology room left for the Sangheili race due to the San'shyum inability to be in the same room as them. And since there is a complete lack of Sangheili engineers, we call this our safe haven away from mass quarters.
I sat in the closest chair to my father and let out a low sigh allowing my fingers to tentatively run over the swelling bruise. "I believe Utan grows tired of my slow progress. He knows I'm too weak to handle myself like a warrior and would rather have me stay with the kig-yars. It means a lot less amount of risk in fighting." My voice dropped low near the end but I knew his hearing could still make out what I said.
Father was silent for a moment which proved my thoughts were correct. I felt my heart clench at the fact they both will ask of me to give up being a warrior and become a sniper instead. No offense to Zex, but fighting on the front lines with your fellow brothers is a greater honor than anything else. If I'm not there then there is no way I can prove myself to all those who don't believe in me and treat me like rubbish.
"It's because he- no, we care about you," Father's voice had broken within the clouds of my mind. "You're a young female whose life will end before I reach mine." My head sunk low from the truth. Upon noticing my change in mood, he shifted the conversation. "You know that there is very few females here, right?" I nod my head. "Which makes your current position higher than them. And something to be proud of, but don't let that mindset stop you from improving."
I nod my head slowly to show that I understood his words but I still felt a ache in my heart. But before I had the chance to speak, he beat me to it, "not every warrior is born with a sword in his hand. A true one trains for it, kills for it and doesn't give up hope. It's our belief that empowers us. Something that you have within you. You're just finding excuses to deny it."
"Now fix your face. I've seen that same expression enough when you could fit in my palm. At that time, you had hoped that if you cried long and hard enough then you would get whatever you wanted. And unfortunately, it worked." He rested a hand on her shoulder after letting his mandibles flare in annoyance.
I found myself involuntarily let out a snicker before quickly fixing my face. My father caught onto it and gently prodded my cheek with his knuckles. "Do not fear me, daughter. I only seek the best in mind for you. I know that expressing yourself is part of a human trait. You may express yourself around me without fearing punishment."
Nodding my head, I released a smile unhindered from my past worries. Although I know he is much softer with me because I am a female human surrounded by males capable of tearing humans apart without a hassle. "I understand, father." I took a deep breath preparing myself for what I have to say. My training is moving too slowly and I am not fit for standard Sangheili training. With a heavy heart, I started up, "I will work with Jup Zex and his kig-yars. I'll master my weapon and use my body to be as lithe as them. But, I will keep my pride and use my previous lessons to help me surpass them."

Prophet of Regret's POV
My fingers tap against the controls of my chair impatiently as it slowly glide towards the throne room. The information I possess could be of great use to our cause and may assist us with obtaining the holy rings. The problem is keeping a well composed figure in front of the Sangheili guarding the path to the room. The last thing I need is for them to think anything less of me being almighty and revered.
I approached the pair standing over the closed door with spears crossed over it allowing no entry. As expected, I didn't need to waste a breath ordering them to remove their weapons from my path. If they didn't then there are more who would slit their throats for halting me. My envoy moved forward to open the doors for me and step to the side so I could enter without problem. Once I was fully inside, they closed the door and waited outside for me. They knew our privacy would not be disturbed except for emergencies.
"Its a pleasure for you to join us once more, Mercy." A familiar voice said coming from the top of the stairs. The Hierarchs of Truth and Mercy hovered in their familiar place waiting for me. I knew I was early for our assigned meeting, but it seems they prefer to be earlier, like usual. " You have stated that you have pertinent information for us. What is it?"
He went straight to the point. At least he prefers not to waste time. "I do indeed. Our previous successor, Prophet of Tolerance, has informed me of a human residing within my jurisdiction. The female has grown up living and training with Sangheilis and Kig-yar. She had been captured and trained by the humans as well before being freed and returned back to our ranks. Apparently, she took a near death shot and had been recuperating while we settled in. From how things currently are, she may be able to head back into the field."
Mercy sneered from the information and curled his lip in disgust. "You are housing a human underneath your gaze and have done nothing about it? Or have you forgotten about our current fight against the humans? Have whatever is closest to her remove her head and feed to the cannon fodder. They're always looking to feast on something."
Truth held up a hand forcing the other to bite back his tongue. "We are not in a stable position right now. A ring has not only denied our touch in favor for humans, but has also been destroyed, forcing us to search for another to keep the Sangheili in line. We still have to make an example of the Ship Master who failed." He turned his chair away from us and stared out the window showing the fleet surrounding High Charity. Its a beautiful ship hiding the rot hidden underneath it. It doesn't matter as long as its the symbol of the Covenant and our strength.
"I would like to see this human your troops have disguised from us. But it can't be face to face otherwise the others will think we are trying to give her special privileges. There may be a place for us to see her without giving away our goal." Truth turned his head towards us and folded his hands on his lap. "Once Thel' Vadamee receives what is due, you will silently escort her to the Mausoleum of the Arbiter once he is branded and we shall judge her there. Her species is also a shameful race so why not also redemption too."
Why am I grinning like an idiot at the chapter name?
