Another death body. This time it was the baker’s son that had died. Everyone was quiet and hid in their homes. Nobody dared to go out with the lurking danger around them. This Wolf was dangerous and they didn’t want to be his next ‘dinner’ in the evening.

“Mom says he deserved to die…”

Her monotone voice got his attention. The huntsman turned around, staring at Marioline’s face. It was an uncaring one. That this boy died left Marioline cold. It wasn’t like when Sophia died. Back then she was in pain, she seemed like this persons death was to none importance.

“And why is that?”

Unintended, his voice had sound rather angry. The young man didn’t mean to be angry at Marioline, but the way she acted so careless about ones death –deserved or not- was rather disgusting.

“Mom said he stole a lot. He had stolen bread, money, jewels and so on. All kind things he could get his grubby hands on.”

The huntsmen clenched his fists. How could she say someone deserved to die just because he was a thief? He was sure Marioline’s mother would never really say and mean such thing, maybe she just said it out of shock, but Marioline was serious about it.

“That doesn’t mean he deserves to die.”

“But he ignored the wolf’s warning, it’s his own fault. He went into the dark forest and left the path.”

The girl frilled with her dark pink riding hood. The one she always wore. He thought the original color was white, a pure and innocent white. Yet somehow it had turned dark pink. Probably her mother had messed up during washing that riding hood.

“What do you mean?”

Marioline took a step back upon hearing the angry growl from the huntsmen. He was upset with her, but she tried her best to ignore his anger.

“He stole, meaning he went in the dark forest and when continuing to steal instead of stopping once being warned already… he ended up leaving the path and died. At least my mom has taught me to always stay on the path.”

He frowned at her words. She seemed so innocent, yet had a strange way of thinking about things, did she not.

“Your mother teaches you strange things…”
