Before Bernie decided to drive us somewhere in the boat we wanted to listen to the radio. Luckily it was still working and they said: we've been getting reports from people across the globe and many populated countries have been infected. We do not know of any country where it is safe. All of Europe seems to be down. We have had no communication with them since last night. We know parts of Africa is overrun, as well as Australia, Canada, South America, everywhere. Honestly if you're still listening you have to know that we, as humans, as uninfected, we are an endangered species. Those that walk with dead eyes are not living. We do not know how to take them down but we know they are not human. Communication with the radio stations will soon be cut off. But those that can hear me I'm sad too inform you, we are endangered.

I couldn't take it any longer I shut off the radio. All we did was stare at each other, we knew that this was truly the end of our species.

"So Bernie what's your plan?" I said drearly.

"Look, I can't accept that there's no way we can put these soulless creatures down. Everything that walks, crawls, swims on this planet can be taken down. We're going to drive over to some open field and try some how to kill these things!" He yelled.

He started up the boat.

"And then what? We just kill them everyday for the rest of our lives?? That's not living!" Nathalie,  always negative nelly.

"Living?? No one is going to truly live when those things are we walking around. And what we just kill ourselves? We have the privilege to still breathing and have emotions and I don't know. But what I do know is that we're not them those soulless," I wave my arm toward the creatures. "But I feel like we need to do this. I agree Bernie we should find a way to kill them." I exclaim.

"Fine, I guess we're "lucky" then," she through up quotation marks with her fingers. "They do disgust me. Plus I need to find my family, see if they are alive. Lets see if we can kill them."

"Good." Bernie said.

"Guess I'm overruled." Jacob said for the first time this morning. He's always been the quiet one.

Bernie drove fast through the water to a big backyard of a rich home. There seems to be 3 Soulless wandering around back there. He parked the boat by the dock and grabbed two knives in his hands. He decided we weren't going to even try the guns since the rednecks already tried.

Natalie refused to try anything staying in the boat and Jake wasn't good with weapons for he had no experience.

I grabbed a machete that Bernie had and decided to use that. Bernie always brought me to gun ranges when I was available. He felt as I'm his best friend that I should learn to protect myself. So I'm pretty good with knives and machetes but I've never shot a gun. Luckily I don't have to.

Bernie walked in front of me down the long wooden dock. Luckily the wood was plastic so it didn't creak under our feet.

When we reached the end of the dock Bernie held up his hand signaling for me to wait. He whispered in my ear, "Okay so I'm going to try to hold him down cut his wrists. See if bleeding them out will kill him." He pointed to the Soulless on the very left of the yard.

"Okay, I will chop the head off of that one," I pointed to the one on the very right. "And cut through the stomach off the other one." Pointing at the one close to the house. I cringed at the thought of killing them. No, they're not people for soulless.

Bernie held up his hand counting on his fingers down from 3. Three... two... one!

He ran to the left and I ran to the right. Everything happened so fast. I looked the Soulless directly in the eye brought my machete up and chopped it clean through the neck. Its body and head falling away to the ground.

The body was wiggling around but the head, its mouth and jaws kept chopping and biting at the air. Its arms desperately reaching for me. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was almost sad. Almost. Then I saw another figure looming before me.

I did what I said I was going to do. I cut the Soulless at it's stomach and it's intestines fell out. And it too fell to the ground but like the other Soulless, its jaw kept trying to bite what couldn't reach. And arms trying to grab me. But with no legs, it couldn't walk.

I turned away bent over and puked. It was a disgusting and unbelievable sight and smell.

I looked over at Bernie. He was struggling with the Soulless that kept biting at him despite blackish blood being spilt everywhere.

I walked over, told Bernie to keep the Soulless still and he nailed her arms to the ground and I cut the thing in half.

Bernice pull off his arms off of it and stood up to see that it no longer could walk. He was scratched up but I saw no evidence of a bite. Like the other Soulless it kept chopping and moving its arms towards us.

Bernie was visibly breathing hard and I could tell he had struggled with the Soulless. Out of anger, he spit at the it's head and the spit landed in it's mouth. Ew. Then seconds later the Soulless just stopped. Its mouth stop chopping, its arms limp, no longer reaching for us.

It lied motionless. Its eyes drain of yellow color and instead just glassy and fogged over, a black pupil dilated. Eyelids droopy and mouth slack. Was it dead?

I walk over to it. I moved its upper body with my foot but it simply just was limp. I even waved my hand over its face and it lied motionless. Its dead, for good this time.

I looked up at Bernie. He looked as astonished as I did. So we walked over to the other two Soulless, spit in their mouths, and within seconds they were motionless, slack, completely lifeless.
