"What do you mean it died again?" Jacob asked.

"I mean, for some reason when we spit in it's mouth it's stopped trying to bite at us and died for good. Blank eyes and everything." I replied.

He seemed to be taking that in. Trying to figure out a reasonable explanation. After a few moments he said,"Okay, I have an idea. We're going to drive the boat over to the backyard over there were there is only one Soulless. Then we are going to tie it up and spit in its mouth while it's limbs are still in tact. Then we will see if it dies."

We all nodded our heads in agreement and climbed back in the boat. We drove over to one of the houses and climbed back onto their dock.

We agreed that Bernie will sneak up behind the Soulless and tie the thick rope around it's mouth. Then I will tie it's hands together behind its back and Nathalie will tie it's feet together.

Jacob climbs into the boat and grabs some rope from a trunk and throws it to us. He then ties the boat to the dock and joins us.

We all together walked down the dock and did as we planned. Once the Soulless was struggling on the ground face up with its limbs tied Jacob called me and Bernie over.

"So you just spit in its mouth and it died. All over again but without trying to bite you." Jacob stated.

"Yep." I say.

"Okay well, do it again."

I stand over the Soulless. It's face wrinkled and graying. It's hair also gray, almost white. It's eyes yellow and hungry. I eighteen aim my spit towards it mouth. The spit landed on the rope but slowly slides into its mouth and drops in.

The Soulless does the same as the others did. It spasmed for a moment, then went all limp, eyes close. A few seconds pass and I say, "Well at least we tried-"

All of a sudden, the Soulless gasped and it's eyes spring open. It's chest starts moving up and down rapidly. It's breathing? Yes, it's breathing. I lean forward to look at it's eyes and I gasp yet again. Their a beautiful green color. It looks at me and I step back. It's hair starts to gain it's color from the root, down like a brown waterfall. It's face, the skin started to tighten and lips started to gain color. Even the freckles on its face started to show. Wait, not it, she. She was alive. She was a girl and alive and beautiful.I remove the rope from her mouth quickly for she was trying to speak.

"W-what.... what happened? Why am I tied up?" She says.

I breath out a breathe I didn't know I was holding. I look at Bernie and Jacob. They look as astonished and startled as I felt.

"Your spit..." Jacob whispers, barely audible." Something in you spit heals the infection.

It must be your DNA, our healthy DNA must heal their infected DNA."

It makes sense. If the infected DNA is put into our bodies by bite, we die and turn into monsters. But if we put our DNA into their infected bodies, we can heal them.

We have to bite back. It bring them back. We can get our human race back.

"Bite back." I whispered.

"Yes, put our DNA in them, to heal them if they have no life-threatening injuries." He sounded accomplished.

DNA is the remedy, it's the cure.

"Who are you guys?" The Soulless says.

"Uh... I'm Nathalie." She says nervously.

"And I'm Bethany. This is Bernie and Jacob." I point to them. "And you are?"

"Uh..ummm.." She seemed to be struggling for a moment the says,"Eva."

We stand their for a while, looking at the now human girl tied in rope were a Soulless once was. A Soulless who wanted to eat our flesh was now a normal mundane teenager.

"Can you guys... um untie me please and tell me what's going on here?" Eva said.

Oh, sassy. Seems like the Soulless can regain their souls.

We nod and me and Bernie help Eva out of the rope.

Amazing, something microscopic may save something so monster.

Like our own species.

Yep, human DNA to the rescue. Any questions?
