chapter 3 the almost kiss

Addison's point of view
I look up and see Bryce, a pouty face that shows his apology. I really don't feel like talking right now, so I give him a hug, assuring him that he is forgiven. I mean, it was a shitty move on his end, but an apology is a good start.

"Look, I get you don't want me here but my parents and I are living the streets. I had no where else to turn." I hear Bryce say. I didn't know that. "It's ok. I get the parent stuff. I'm upset about my dad and how JJ is right. I don't mind you living here. You're actually pretty cool" I say and I smile.

We look up at each other and our eyes lock. What game is he playing I think as he leans in towards me. I don't even think as I lean in as well, and our lips almost touch when I hear JJ coming to the door. I move away from him so fast when JJ opens the door.

JJ eyes both of us weirdly as me and Bryce look at each other awkwardly. "Um Bryce let's go unpack in your new room" JJ says, breaking the definite awkwardness in the room.

"Yeah of course!" Bryce says standing up. He turns to me and smirks. "May I take a piece of candy Sweet face?" Bryce says, reaching for my mason jar. I hear JJ laughing in the corner.

I roll my eyes as I nod and Bryce takes 2 pieces, and hands one to JJ on the way out. Wow, what a day! I go shower, change into some pjs, and get into my bed and drift off to sleep.

Bryce's point of view
I see Addison run away as I see Jaden put his head in his hands. "I shouldn't move in. Your sister clearly doesn't want me here" I say my head turning down.

"Bryce no. You are living here and that's final" Jaden says and I nod. "Go check and see if she is ok please. I am worried that she might leave and go over to Dixie's house and personally I don't feel like driving today."

I nod my head in understanding and I head up the stairs. I knock on the door and she tells me to go away. I enter in anyways and see her crumpled in a ball on the floor. I go over and sit next to her.

She then turns to my shoulder and cries. I get sad as I hear her sobs. My sweet face doesn't deserve to be this sad, but I decide to stay quiet. So when she looks up and sees me, I give her a pouty sorry face.

I sense that she doesn't wanna talk, and that is understandable and so as I am about to leave she hugs my waist. I don't know why but that makes me get all warm inside. It gives me a feeling that she forgives me, even though I don't deserve her forgiveness.

I tell her what happened with my parents and everything and she told me about how and why she was upset, and that I was cool. That made me, for the first time in years, blush.

We look up and our eyes lock. My body takes over me and I lean into her lips. She does the same and our lips are inches apart, and then I hear Jaden and she gets away from me like she found out I had an infectious disease. I am not gonna lie I found that funny.

Jaden looks at us and tells me to go unpack. I know me and Addison just had a moment but I was craving candy. So I asked her, and she said yes. I heard Jaden laughing and I got us both some candy and we left to unpack.

I was all settled and I hugged Jaden. I thanked him like ten more times before he left and I went to shower, change, and I drifted off to bed. I thought it would be hard, but it was easier than expected.

Addison's point of view
I wake up to the doorbell ringing so loud. I groan as I look at the time. Who would be at the Hossler residence at 10:30 in the morning on a Sunday?! Don't they have church or something?

I pay no mind to it as I brush out my hair and pull it to a messy bun. I take out my mouth guard and put it back into its case. I get my glasses and put them back on as I walk to the living room with my phone.

The doorbell is still ringing and I yell for JJ to get it. Then I groan as I realize JJ is out on errands for the morning. And knowing Bryce, he's probably still drooling on his pillow in his room.

So I have to get up from the couch and I go to the door all groggy. I open the door and I get even more upset and mad. I roll my eyes as I say "Ugh. What are you doing here?"
