Jaden's point of view
"Happy Birthday to you..." I sang with a cake in my hands as I sit by the foot of Addison's bed.
Her eyes slowly flutter open. "Happy Birthday dear Addi..." I sing and she smiles. "Happy Birthday to you..." I finish off softly.
(Side note : just imagine Jaden Hossler singing happy birthday to you... :)🥺 )
She blows out all 14 candles at once and I put the cake down, clapping my hands to celebrate. "Happy Birthday Addi" I say, and she hugs me tight.
"Where's Dad?" She says and I give her a frown. Dad had left on business this morning. On his own daughter's birthday. What a dick.
"He left Addi... I'm sorry. He'll be back next week" I say and I see how sad she got. "It's okay Addi, we don't need Dad. We can spend the day together and still have a good time, what do you say?" I say holding out my hand.
She smiles and we do our handshake. We came up with it years ago and now it was just ingrained in our heads and has become a part of our daily schedule.
"Ok go get changed. Imma go make breakfast" I say and she just smiles. I get up and go the kitchen. As I finished up her favorite, pancakes with bacon, I get a text from my boy Bryce.

We sit down to eat breakfast and we talk about what we're gonna do today. "Ok let's go over : beach, carnival, ice cream parlor" she says and I nod my head in agreement.
"Oh and Bryce says happy birthday" I say and she gives a slight blush. "Well tell him I said thanks. But how did he even know?" She said.
"Well he wanted to hang today but I told him I was hanging with you" I said, and I tap her shoulder lightly.
"You don't have to, you can go with him if you want. You guys are best friends. I can just cuddle up and finish vampire diaries" she says, her glasses falling to the tip of her nose.
"No Ads, that's not how you spend a birthday. I can hang with Bryce any day of the year, but you only turn 14 once!" I say.
"Ok. If you're sure" she says, getting up and putting her plate away. She turns on the water but I quickly stop her.
