Nightshade carefully tapped Echos shoulder with her right wing, catching her attention making her focus on the multi-coloured egg, that now had a large crack right through the middle of it.
The baby colossal dragon had jumped of Nightshades head and was now hiding behind her legs, shivering quietly. Nightshade looked down at the shivering hatchling, carefully patting her paw on his tiny head, to calm him. As she looked back up at the multi-coloured egg it started shaking and the egg shell slowly started falling apart.
Piece by piece, the egg fell apart, revealing a very strange looking creature. The creature had multi-coloured feathered wings, two legs with scales over the sprout of feathers, a long furry tail and five medium sized spikes on its fluffy head. As soon as it finished hatching, it looked up at Nightshade and squawked.
Nightshade, Echo and all the healers inside the cave were stunned at the beautiful creature. As it moved towards Nightshade the colossal dragon hatchling jumped in front of it growling with fear. The creature jumped back from the little dragon and then sat down. Soon after the creature had sat, the colossal dragon did the same.
"Their copying each other?" Echo suggested.
"I guess so?" Nightshade replied.
-----Time Skip 2 Minutes-----
The two hatchlings were climbing all over each other making happy purr's, squawks and roars. Everyone stared as the two hatchlings play fought happily before Nightshade walked up to them crouching down to meet their faces. They both turned their small heads and then jumped onto Nightshades head.
Nightshade smiled and said, "Well, i just got two new family members".
"Wait, your gonna look after them both, we don't even know what the furry one is!" Echo exclaimed.
"Then i better start researching, I'm gonna talk them for a peaceful flight to make them sleepy, then i'm going to head over to the dragon library" She replied.
"should i come or leave all the trouble to you" Echo said mischievously.
"na, i'm gonna look after them from here, you get going i'm gonna meet up with Blair"
"Oh, right. Cause she was in the creature study, she might know a thing or two about your new hatchling creatures!!"
"well, i'll see you tomorrow" Nightshade said, while waving the tip of left wing at Echo.
----Time skip 10 minutes-----
Nightshade had been flying close to the ground, 'cause she had two babies on her back, as she was making her way to the dragon library. She could feel the two baby dragons shifting around on her back as she carefully moved through the air. 'I really hope they don't fall off' she thought anxiously. Slowly, the bright blue baby dragon propped its head up to see what was happening. 'The other one must be asleep' she thought. She continued to fly towards the dragon library, aware of her surroundings.
'So, i see the eggs hatched!' A soft voice in Nightshades head said. 'Oh, hey fern.' She replied in her mind. 'I hope you don't mind me showing up out of nowhere.' Fern said. 'thanks for talking through mind link, it seems you noticed one was asleep' - Nightshade thanked - 'you can talk out loud now' she continued.
"so, you're heading to the library, right?" Fern asked.
"yeah, i'm going to do some research on the multi-coloured one, never seen anything like him"
"really, I've seen one of his kind before!" fern explained.
"Wait, you have?" Nightshade asked.
"Yeah, but it wasn't a great encounter" Fern continued.
"What happened?" Nightshade asked.
"Well, it didn't attack me but a strange figure appeared behind me and it went psycho, tearing the thing apart-" Fern paused, then said, "-but it was a lot bigger than your one and i doubt your one wont do what that older creature did".
"wait, so it teared up a strange creature...Was there anything left?" Nightshade investigated.
"No, it literally destroyed it. Also when the strange figure was dead it splashed a strange red substance that wouldn't go away after the figure was teared apart" fern said confused.
"well, maybe we'll find out about that figure in the library?" Nightshade suggested.
"Probably, i mean, that library has everything about strange mysterious creatures!" Fern exclaimed as they approached the library.
